And you do realize that the quote you mentioned was made by the journalist who wrote the article and not CDPR? Get your bearings straight, amigo.
I would not be interested in a Multiplayer Cyberpunk. That is just my opinion.
Side note to the OP:
Why are you digging up a 4 month old article that is itself reporting on (old) news that broke 8 months prior? Everything is so delayed that it’s honestly kind of comical at this point.
Honestly I'm seriously starting to wonder if people are capable of differentiating primary sources from the output of news sites at all. It's bizarre and perhaps highlights some sort of serious problem in the way people are educated (not a criticism of the OP: it is genuinely concerning that people do not seem to be able critically to evaluate sources).
How would Act 1 work with multi-player? How would the various endings work? How would the NPC side jobs work?
Its just still being worked on.
I saw footage on YouTube, it was jankey as all hell.
You had to summon individual cars because players could not share vehicles.
And the players couldn't both use their Vs bodies. The other player (the joiner, not the hoster) had to ether use a different body mesh (in the clip, player two was Jackie lol)
Although, it could have been that YOU saw YOUR V's body, but the other player saw someone else (Jackie).
Iirc you couldn't do quests, because only the host could get the rewards. But you could kill gangoons and clear ncpd points (not sure if again, the host was the only one that got exp/rewards)
Also.
Folks need to differentiate between MULTIPLAYER and CO OPERATIVE play.
Co op might work here, if the game allowed for players to have 'friendly mercs' join them on some missions.
Multiplayer is a whole nother can of Kibble tho.
The current version of NightCity isn't designed to truly respawn. Sure, there are multiple points at which Corpo mooks and gangoons respawn. But until it gets dynamic respawning quests points or ncpd points, you WILL run out of things to do together, fast.
Think folks are just going to have to get used to 2077 not having multiplayer.
The next version in Unreal Engine should be able to handle it tho.
Personally, I prefer to keep both versions separate.
Import your main character to your multiplayer version type separate.
Plus, it would be nice to have the option to have private servers, rather than just company owned/run ones.
Some folks want to be gang members, some want to work for Corpos and some just want to walk around in the city doing jobs for local Fixers to make edds.
Can't see cdpr (the beancounters especially) being happy to have to create multiple server types....
So unless everyone agrees all they really want is full loot cyberpsycho servers....(since that's invariably what is shouted the loudest I have found, no matter the game) its going to end badly without the ability to host private servers or co op games.
I prefer larian studios as my favorite developer atm. Used to be big into cd red and square enix, but that kinda changed recently. Just hope their version of baldur's gate 3 is good..still in Early Development at this time..going to wait till it goes out from Early Development. Also, i think CD project should of put their game in Early Development as this would of soften the blow from being a full release.

As for larian studio..we will have to see if they burn and roast, but i have a feeling it will be very good game when there done with it. I like the method that larian studios is doing keeping it in Early Development until they fix every bug in the game. As i said, i respect this method, even if people complain how long it will be in early development, but if cd project did something like this, they would not have had as much flak for a full release game with bugs. Better to be a long time in development than to rush..and we all know what happens when developers rush on game releases...
Yes it is. They need to clarfication on this. Although technically PVP is a sub-content usually of Multiplayer..it is a mode usually found under multiplayer.
Yea, but PVP is considered a sub-jondre of multiplayer..because without multiplayer, you cannot usually have pvp, unless it is couch PVP. I feel mostly though PVP should be online against other players, and multiplayer should definetly be online against others.
