My impression was its the never fully seen bald council guy from Xcom, now with hair. Even sounds and acts similar.

Yeah I certainly didn't expect him to look like... that. Especially the version before Phantom Liberty with a completely different VA.

But it honestly suits him well (pun not intended)

Honestly, he looked exactly what I expected him to look like. With his voice, I really expected some rich villain looking guy, and he hit all that with his face, hair, suit, etc.

I mean, he's not exactly a villain, but it's just what I expected him to look like from his voice and name.

Considering his flair for ancient egypitan art, I was mostly surprised that his cyberware and hands weren't gold

The model uses in the earlier version of the game when you couldn't see his face (except with lighting/camera hacks) was different. The silhouette is noticeable different now. Given that, I had a different expectation and kinda wish they never showed him unobscured.

(What we imagine can be better than anything shown to us, and once revealed, we are sometimes left disappointed.)

Turns out he simply has a beard solid enough it looks like it could block bullets.

I had no particular expectation of how Mr. Hands would look, but the voice acting pre-Expansion was quite noticeably different. In the old game, I had a mental image of him being somewhat younger and sharper, not the mature, calculating man we got in Phantom Liberty.
