It's a bit like the Ghost In The Machine build idea, but way less subtle
Most of your kills come from the environment, the rest come from you getting people to do things that, in hindsight, was not a good idea. And some combat quickhacks for when there just aren't enough explosive barrels in the room.
If stealth is optional, other than you being at a max safe distance, you opt out.
Main stat is INT (d'uh). Outside of that, pretty much dealers choice. Techs always a safe bet so you can cram as much chrome in there as possible. Otherwise it probably depends on if there's any abilities you don't want to be without or what sort of weapons you want to use.
Speaking of weapons. Smart guns only. Partly because you're maxing INT anyway, partly because there's synergy with quick hacking and partly because after a while you get get the weapon mod that lets you inflict even more quickhacks with your bullets.
For grenade, Recon. As a rule you don't carry messy explosives, that's what all the fuel tanks laying about are for. Plus synergy with the smart weapons.
Core to the whole thing is a good cyberdeck.
If you've ever needed an excuse to use the Canto, this is pretty much it.
Otherwise the Netdivers a good pick. More so if you're doing the racing sidequest.
Before you can get your hands on either of them, the Ripplers a good placeholder if just for the bonus max RAM.
Chrome is largely anything that can help with what's already been mentioned above. Bioconductor the only really big one as is anything else that could help boost max RAM or RAM recovery.
Personally I'd recommend Fortified Ankles over Reinforced Tendons. You'd be more likely to be looking for a good hiding spot than leaping about like Mario.
Plus high tier Stalker eyes are amazing for being able to see what's going on in a building that you yourself are nowhere near.
Quickhacks are heavy on the Combat and Ultimate with just a touch of Covert.
From Covert we have the ever godly Ping and Request Backup to help gather people together to get the party started.
Unless you're more of a Synapse or Short Circuit kinda guy, largely we talking Contagion for groups and Overheat for singles. With both together at later levels, plus a mix of Bait plus Request Backup for a nice large group to kick things off with a bang.
Ultimate is of course when things get fun. Cyberpsychosis and Detonate Grenade mean the enemy can do most of the work for you.
Core stats: Body 20. Dex 20. Tech 20. Middle path in all the to the end + left path for tech(as much as you can afford), this is a pure melee fast boi. No support stats.
Core implants: Purple Biotech cyberdeck, electro monowire, double jump legs(works really well with speed skills).
Support cyberware: according to priority: armor>health>crit chance. You can skip the health implants if you don't want a secret ending.
When you overclock and use quickhacks they spread and smart guns lock on instantly and explode. It's carnage lol and you don't even have to aim.
Then there's all the quickhack combos you can do, and you can even substitute sneaking with quickhacks. One tree covers all, it's kinda ridiculous.
1. Wallpuncher Bolt Satara
2. Wallpuncher Bolt Achilles
3. Monowire with Paraline + Overclock
4. Wallpuncher Bolt Omaha
5. Cyberarm Projectile Launcher
I really like tech weapons, they are by far the most fun.
Katana as you already know. Probably the best melee weapon in the game imo.
Crit Revolver, another great build.
Tech weapons, as the post above said, Projectile Launcher can be fun.
Pistol
no
smart
- Rostović DB-4 Palica w/ 2x Headhopper mods
- Another Palica w/ Equalizer mods for elite enemies
- Militech Paraline
- Prioritize Intelligence and Body
- Prioritize reload speed and headshot damage when upgrading cyberware
- Get Overclock from the INT tree ASAP
The Palica is a very underrated weapon because almost every pellet is a headshot, and with Overclock you get instant lockons. The Praline cyberdeck's iconic version adds in 60% electric damage. You can add in even more damage with Cyberware Malfunction for 15% more damage and Contagion for the Ba Xing Chong effect. Additionally, Adrenaline from Body will work with Overclock, making it even more powerful late game.
I love smart weapons but hate hacking in this game for the most part. I'm also not someone who likes to stealth.
Another build I love is the Psalm 11:6 with the Handyman and RC-7 Varkolak mods because it synergizes with the Pyromania perk. I also throw in Errata sometimes. It's the standard Sandy build, so not as original as the angry bees build, but it's also something I see people overlook. It's not as powerful as the Palica build, but I've used it on the highest difficulty with no issues and it's fun setting everyone on fire. I've also found that the Firecracker mod just isn't as strong as Psalm is.
My first playthrough started off with a bit of everything until settling on shotguns and lmgs using sandy, then later switching to mantis blades and chainsword using berserk. Also tried blunt weapons for a bit but didn't like their feel.
My 2nd playthrough has been stealth throwing knife/axe and quickhacks, and then switching mostly into pure blackwall hacking when I got the Canto.
I don't know what there's left to try that will be significantly different.
Invest in Body, Reflexes and Tech only.
Go up close and boom.
