Gaining access to Dogtown is a boon, because there are vendors there that sell items you can only get there, you unlock the vehical theft missions, you can do the air-drops, which are a rich source of money and or crafting materials. So yeah, it makes sense to unlock that area sooner rather than later.
Buuuuut... if you play through the DLC early, you'll miss out on a bunch of tie-ins with the rest of the game, even miss out on a special item or two.
So i can recommend getting it started, and then take a break from PL's main story untill later.
Cheers mates!
Yup, sounds about right.
If you want a safe pause point, you can basically just do the first two missions of PL.
First mission you rescue the Prez, second mission you meet Reed, and he gets her out of Dogtown, and tells you to wait a few days to hear back from him.
It's a natual break in the story, so you can easilly leave it on hold after that. When you do hear back from Reed, just don't go to the meeting point he indicates untill you are ready to continue the PL story. Simple.
You can then safely explore Dogtown, use the vendors there, do airdrops, steal cars, you can even do the Gigs Mr. Hands gives you (they won't advance the main PL story, they are sepperate).
That part is pretty helpful, pretty much satisfies what I'm looking for (getting the relic tree and some nice PL perks, like free cars and extra weapons) without committing to its story.
Cheers!
You'll fail the entire DLC and lose access to the rest of its main quest if you wait too long, once you start it you have to ensure that Myers is safe
True, if you abandon the questline durring the first mission, it does eventually fail. Which is why i recommend doing the first two missions.
Oh I see there is a potential catch here, so if I do start it, do the first 2 missions. Thanks for the heads-up!
The main advice I'm seeking is if PL alters the main storyline ending in any way? I'm planning to get every achievements in a single playthrough, mainly want to avoid screwing myself over if I tackle the entirety of PL's once I get to the point in act 3 where I have to "Meet Hanako's at embers". This would be the moment where I would do the DLC.
So far, despite looking ahead for achievement, I managed to remain spoiler free, but I know there are 4 PL's ending requiring wise hard saves to get them all while the main storyline sets you back before that final mission allowing you to experiment them all. I'm unsure if they interact with one another though.
Cheers!
If you kill Reed during Killing Moon, or grant Songbird's request during Somewhat Damaged, then you will be barred from getting The Tower ending, as Myers will not help you unless you're in good standing with her, which means that Songbird has to be alive and in her hands.
There are points where you can manually save (do not quicksave if you want to go back, quicksaves overwrite each other) during FIrestarter, Somewhat Damaged, and Killing Moon in case you want to go back and change something or just get the achievements.
