Should have been a PC exclusive
Let's be honest here: That would have eliminated most of the problems.

Console kids have had exclusives for longer than most of us have been alive, so it's not morally wrong for CDPR to have made it a PC exclusive. The only reason it was put on console is because the board wanted more money. But therein lies the problem. A decrepit game brick from nearly 10 years ago cannot hope to play a 2020 game with any degree of quality. It was a pointless venture. Cyberpunk should have been a PS5 release, if it had to be on there at all.

So, because of needing to tailor a high-end game to a coffee maker, the dev cycle was split at CDPR and they sunk time and resources into an un-needed port that doesn't work anyway. If they had been able to focus exclusively on PC development, the result might have been a much higher quality product with more content and features.

Console versions should've been released later and only next gen.

... as well as over 4 million copies worth of revenue. I think we can see why that didn't happen.

Yes it's no doubt they had to rework a lot of the game design to make it possible to run on the previous gen consoles. They should have just released on PC first and then port it fo next-gen, but greed gets to us all.

They would have sold those copies later when a proper port was made. Now those 4 million sales are being returned for refunds.

Should have been, should have been....Why it isnt? Because CDPR is greedy and wanted to earn money from the consol users.

Just remember it's not the devs who made this decision, it was the board.

This thing should have been in development for another year and ported to PS5 at a later date. End of.

Oh well, the damage is already done. Not much they can do. People expecting them to fundamentally change the game's design are wasting their time. They won't do that. Best we can hope for are some bugfixes and maybe a few percentage improvement in performance.

AMEN! Preach it! By the time the PS5 actually releases it will already be outdated hardware, and attempting to develop a game for mid to high end PC then slap it on a electric paper weight and expect it to work correctly is just a money grab.
Some of these companies are worth billions of dollars, but they gotta have the few billion more to blow their stockholders with and it makes everyone suffer but the guy at the top with the largest cut of the profits.
Games should never be developed for consoles, EVER. Imagine how crap games like Diablo 2 would be if they had been developed for a PlayStation, or the original Baldur's Gate being developed for a Super Nintendo. Iconic games that shaped many games to come, are still loved and played to this day because they were PC exclusive and didn't sacrifice vision or game play for inferior hardware and a few more bucks in the bank.

Sorry if Im late in the party. I just wanna agree with this and let's take a look at the Deus ex example. The original was a PC-design focus and then ported it to console. It was so good. I am actually hyped and excited about the sequel then BOOM The sequel, DE: Invinsible war was such dissapointing. Terrible sequel. Deus Ex have never been consistently good after the first one due to the rest of the game been a victim of the hype and a console-focused design.

Not many Publishers/Devs can stay in business long if they make it exclusive to one platform! SE is slowly learning that. after reporting a 80% drop in operating margins.... FF14 will now be available on Xbox and my guess FF16 will also be in 2024

Financial decision unfortunately, I would absolutely have loved a PC exclusive release. That said, this game had no business being on PS4 or XBOX One.
