Oh, and there's a DLC too, lol
All that's left after you do all the pinned quests on the map, is to find hidden side gigs sprawled throughout the map.
These are not significant to the main story campaign. You'll find new vehicles to add to your catalog, some easter eggs from the anime Edgerunners and a lot (over 100) of tragic situations that occurred with shards left behind for you to find out why these things happened.
Some of them are really disturbing stuff while others are just sad.
But these are so cool to find and it'll make you really explore the entire map of NC. (especially in alleyways, etc)
Hope you enjoy the DLC!
well, you could always go and get this beauty;

Items mostly. I use a mod called 'missing persons: fixers hidden gems' which turns them into mini 'GoFer' gigs from the various fixers.
There is also one for the hidden gems of Dogtown too.
Steal a car for El Capitain. If you haven't already, try grabbing one of those vehicles for him. Marked on the map with a steering wheel icon. This unlocks an ongoing set of vehicle collection gigs with him that will have you klepping all manner of vehicles (tho no AVs or Basilisks, sorry) for him. Various versions of the gigs. Straight up steal. Gang chase, outrun or fight. Gets you discount vouchers for his vehicle vending system, Auto fixer.
Not sure if it's only started once you have entered Dogtown, but there is also an ongoing thing called 'increased criminal activity' points. You can find those on the map too. More clustered gangoons, better loot, a mini boss type super-goon at the end.
When I did one it was a bunch of Barghast in a tunnel between Pacifica and Dogtown, ended with a mini boss in one of the MiliTech exoskeletons you see Meredith/Anthony presenting to the ncpd.
Top the leaderboard on the arcades.
You can get a special outfit 'Roach Whisperer' if you get top score on the 'Roach Race' arcade game. Very popular with nomad Vs for its style.
You can get an offer of subcon work (cosmetic, sadly) a full outfit and a miniature Trauma Team AV flier from them if you get top score in the Trauma Drama arcade.
There is also a random encounter between them and some gangoons on the new road (think it's in Japantown) if you swoop in and save the day without hitting the TT folks, you get a note from them iirc.
You could find the hidden arcade machine, connected to the monster truck Liquid Inc linked to. It's a Doom alike arcade game that was discontinued, probably around 2045ish. Think there is only one cabinet left now in working order, in the whole of Night City.
After that..,,.roleplay stuff mostly.
Night City Pub Crawl. Go visit every bar, nightclub and drink establishment available in game, and drink there.
V's last liaison... Visit all 4 joytoys.
Kitty Call....find all the cats, pet them. (Might not work. Not sure every kitty is petable)
If you are an Edgerunners fan....
Photomode memory fun. Try to find many memorable places from the anime, take a photomode picture there. Some are easy, others wouldn't be.
I started the last mission. Let's see where this crazy story takes us. I've spent time building a really nice silent ninja style throwing knife build, using a lot of the kerizikov/boost mods, backed up by strong pistols, so let's see if I can take on Adam Sandler and his cronies
Whats that? I dont recall ever seeing that vehicle?
It comes with the Nova traffic mod

SinDrom* linked the guide i used. I never knew it existed until i saw that guide.
It's base game. No mods needed.
For some players (depending on how you played the game), you may never get a job listed on the map.
However, you can do those jobs if you go to the right locations.
E.g., did you know you can ride a roller coaster with Johnny?
There are also hidden jobs that you won't see on the map regardless how a player played the game.
E.g., I once entered a random garage and it was a job.
Or the job where you help Max Tac to stop a cyberpsycho.
So if you care about finding those hidden secrets, you could do them first.
But you can also do them with the DLC too, so not a big deal I guess.
When I was getting close to the final mission, I rebuilt my build after I was max levelled. So you could do that if you want to.
You know it doesn't even hurt to do the DLC first and then do the final mission. Because the DLC gets into your relic issue and so in the DLC, you will be exploring other solutions to your relic issue. So since the DLC relates to the base game, it doesn't hurt to start on the DLC, which is what I did before the final mission from the base game.
If you enjoyed the base game and if you are into spy thriller, you will love the DLC.
In my opinion, the DLC completes the game.
Anyway, I went astray there. To answer your question with one sentence:
You can start the final mission without doing anything else, it depends on what other miscellaneous things you want to do before you start the final mission.
Right now, I'm just roaming around NC and I found a bunch of secrets along the way. Some aren't that deep, but others have information that will might make you pause for a second, just to imagine how certain things unfolded before the person was killed, etc.
I haven't gotten the monster truck yet, so I'm pursuing that now. Also have yet to ride on a coaster with Johnny. lol. I did see a glimpse of it in a review a few days back.
I'll keep digging around. Trying to figure out and find as much stuff without going online for info. :)
Note: when you take the ride with Johnny, he only rides with you once. And so if you want to take a picture of him riding with you, make sure to do it when the sun's out so you can take a clear pic.
Thankfully I got a pic on my first ride but it was in the evening kinda and so it's not as bright as I wanted it to be. However, the evening look has its special magic to it as well. You can check out my screenshot. (don't worry, there are only 9 screenshots, so you will find it quickly).
Thanks! I knew about the church but I had no idea that there was a hidden quest there.
Awesome info!
Depends on the weather tbh.
I usually don't ride the coaster till after I finish the SwedenBorg quest. (Because the way I do it, Johnny is the happiest he's ever been lol.)
It's always foggy when I'm done there. So I have to wait around a bit, do something else then take the ride.
But I've seen some absolutely stonking pictures (and videos) of taking the ride at night.
My poor wee 1660 can't take the strain, but if you got the rig fir it, go full night, with the lights of Wellspings and the City center visible behind.... beautiful ride.
That is pretty cool!
