Ricochet Concept is Bad
Am I weird for feeling like this concept makes no sense and is poorly implemented?

In an X-com game, this would be an amazing ability, because you could do indirect fire meaning, shooting the enemy from a position where they can't shoot you. But... CP77 is first person perspective. Even if you tagged some and hid behind some cover, you literally cant aim the gun at a reflect-y surface and see the target.

You see what I'm saying? Like, you are limited, literally, to Line of Sight (LOS) and indirect fire is specifically Beyond Line of Sight. Idk if anyone else understands how non-sense-crazy-bonkers that was to force this into the game.

So lets say you end up in some perfect scenario where you can actually use this to shoot around cover... *BANG* and 1/97th of the enemies health goes away and they charge around the corner at you.

Then, just because this concept exists in game, I have to see a blinking line every time I aim for the rest of my life? IF I HAVE A BLINKY LINE, WHY DO I NEED TO AIM AT ALL. I will NEVER upgrade my hands. Ever.

I swear to god the dodgy-matrix dudes in the game were put in JUST for the ricochet bullets to have a purpose, which again, makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense. So they can dodge direct, full-speed bullets, but not slow ones bounced off the ground? Just don't go BACK to the space you just dodged out of! Like, enemies are already super spongey, but now every ass-hat with a name auto-matrixes 3/4 of my shots. Must have the BEST damn Sandevistan on the planet.

It's bad. Probably the one thing in this game that makes absolutely no sense to me at all and I ignore completely.

Honestly,

CP77 should just have VATS. SO many perks/abilities would make WAY more sense in a VATS scenario. You're 90% of the way there with scanners already, just put your magic gun skills into the quickhack menu.

I'd love to be able to dodge-sprint-headshot a guy or whatever in a bad-ass 3rd person little video than praying the game decided Kerenzikov's are working as I jump out of cover trying to trigger it.

My problem with ricochet is how surprisingly often i accidentally hit some random guy in the street and get the cops on me. It doesn't even make sense as something Power weapons should be able to do, like you're loading rubber bullets or something. IK ricochets happen irl but it doesn't feel right in game. Maybe if it was a type of tech weapon where the bullets burrow into a wall, or another enemy, then fire back out at your target?

I keep forgetting it even exist

i don't even think people use ricochet builds the way devs hope they intended. literally aim at the floor in front of an enemy and shoot the floor, it'll automatically and consistently hit the enemy. the wall bang stuff is too gimmicky to use in normal gameplay in my opinion.

its like a lite version of the smart link cyberware.

It would work if it was a hack. So you slow down time, and see the enemy you want to hit behind walls, and then bounce a bullet at him/her. As it is now i just avoid it.

You're basically complaining about a mechanic that you admit to having no idea how it works because it doesn't suit your play style.

But if you search on Google for 5 minutes you will find out that there is an entire build dedicated to this mechanic that feels like cheating because the game becomes ridiculously easy.

I never use ricochets.

I don't use it. I have no issue with it, I just don't like using it in most games.

Yeah, but let's face it, there are numerous ways to make the game ridiculously easy. And, indeed, easier ones...

bro it's not that he doesn't know how to play, it's just that the mechanic is garbage. most of the build for it is dependant on cyberware and even if it's that good, a smart or tech weapon build, or even a blunt/blade melee build is much better and more practical than having to calculate your shots to land a ricochet every time. pretty sure the devs know it's bad, at this point it's more of a cool trick to do than it is useful. it was good pre 2.0 update but now it's been watered down heavily. also, maybe tone down that attitude lol

Ricochets are actually effective as surprise attacks.
If you have enemies talking and hidden behind an obstacle, the ricohet shots keeps you out of enemy sight for a few seconds and you have allready dropped one or 2 enemies by the time.
Shooting the ground is actually fun too so why not use it from time to time.

People are so negative and depressing on these steam forums....
