2.0 is too dark
Someone changed the game for ray tracing and forgot to turn back on the light sources for non ray traced graphics. There are so many areas I can't see anything and we don't have flashlights. This needs to be fixed.

Where are the brightness settings? The only setting I can see for that is gamma.

It might not be brightness (tho that can be adjusted with the gamma settings)
It might be the forced vignette that darkens the edges of the screen (at least for me it was)

It got even worse for me when sneaking, the whole screen goes dark.

Fixed it with the 'Preem' mods from the nexus.

Preem optics (exposure and vignette fix)

Preem scanner (customization options with monochrome version)

I picked the Preem optics with only the crouch/sneak vignette and the Preem scanner with the monochrome look so I can see clearer when using scan (there is even a terminator style red version scanner)

Simple flashlight mod
(In case that also helps)

they just need to add in a night vision button for your cyber eye.
in 2077 makes more sense than a flashlight

It's the same WITH raytracing, some areas are just pitch black, and it's even worse with a good oled monitor with deep black. I can't see ♥♥♥♥ most of the time, in the intro to Phantom Liberty when going under the stadium I was progressing blindly. It's extremely annoying.

It's not the vignette or eye adaption either, I have mods to remove that. They just decided that the ligting should be "realistic" and thus there are no light sources in some places.

Those Kiroshis sure should have a night vision mode...

Yeah I entered some abandoned apartment and it was pitch black. Very uncomfortable without flashlight or night vision. I literally could not exit for some time.

Like what the hell? You literally have bionic eye implant, why not make night vision mode? Very disappointing.

Yeah night vision would be great. But unfortunately CDPR won't do it. They said a while ago that they don't want to interfere with the lighting of the game. (although in all these pitch black areas there is no light to begin with)

exactly. I`m playing PL and is a ♥♥♥♥ without nightvision... I`m using my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sniper scope to see things...

Come to think of it, it's really bizarre there is no form of nightvision enhancement.

It's weird because the very rare time in any of my 5 playthroughs that I thought I needed a flashlight, I would just turn the camera a bit and I have light again. There was never a point where I was like, man I really need a flashlight to continue in this quest or gig or I won't be able to proceed.

It certainly helps having a bright monitor, that's for sure. Still, there needs to be an in-game vision enhancement. System Shock from 1994 had vision enhancement, why can't this?

Edit: And oh yeah, make sure you get the mod that removes VIGNETTE, it's so annoying having the edges/corners of the screen darker for absolutely NO reason.

If you want a good example on light issues, go to Dexter DeShawn's corpse at night. I could only see the gun icon to know he was there.

I wish I had your problem, on HDR mode the game is far too bright

I find it's not too bad with ultrawide.

Its kind of problem like in DOOM3, when flashlight was added later ;) .

Be aware those vignette remover mods can cause trouble with other mods like weather for example. Vignette is deeply buried into the system.

But i agree, PL especially is too dark and i hate it that in the "future" with all those cyberware yo cant have a light in the dark although it was the very first thing humans invented lol

It's ridiculous. They want to make the lighting realistic but not the world? I mean this is a cybernetic future where you don't carry a light source or have night vision?? Being uncharacteristically night blind does not add to the immersion. It just feels broken.
