Phantom Liberty Criticism: What's with this goody two-shoes writing?
Particularly in the gigs, and particularly in the dialogue/voice acting. I'm trying to play as a merc who's pretty similar to Johnny. Not particularly sentimental and hates corps. But so many gigs and dialogue options just force you to have the reaction of a teenage girl. Not some battle hardened merc in Night City.

The best example is the Dog Town gig with the Net Nuke. It's all about a terrorist betraying her organisation by subverting an attack on Biotechnica because she "doesn't want people to die". I WANT my V to respond negatively to her and see her in contempt for this like Johnny does. But nope. My response to his criticisms of her is either "She's brave!" or "You blame her for having a conscience!?!"

This is only really a problem I've been having with Phantom Liberty. The base game usually has a good variety of responses that allow you to play as a variety of different ways. But this writing? It kinda sucks. I'm really going from betraying Songbird to try and save myself, with a full lethal build throughout the whole game, dismembering people with Mantis Blades, to admonishing Johnny for criticising this ♥♥♥♥. Same with the next line of dialogue, I can only respond with "What do you know about war?" or "What did bombing Arasaka Tower even change?" Not only has my character already commented about Johnny serving in the army maybe two or three times now (making the first line of dialogue completely nonsensical), the second line just does not make sense for my character...

I know later on you can screw Nele over (and I didn't even hesitate to do that), but it's just disappointing dialogue options in general that forces you to play a type of V that the base game never forced you to play and doesn't make sense for your previous choices and actions.

Yeah... for that gig, I really wish there was a "don't care, she's paying me" dialogue option, because that's why my V is doing this.

Honestly, even though I love this game, this is probably one of my biggest criticisms; V is not quite a blank slate, but not quite a fully developed character; they're the weird, often frustrating, in-between.

This might be why I like Johnny and the Temperance ending far more; due to me not being able to play V the way I wanted to play him, I ended up caring for Johnny far more, [ENDING SPOILERS HERE] so of course I'd let Johnny have the body.
