I don't really like the concept of the mantis blades
So yeah they look cool but your bacily hollowing out your forearms for then and wouldn't that ultimately weaken your limb? I mean maybe it's great on street level because there are not that many people who can afford that kind of chrome but if you ever cross a choom with really good sub dermal armor and something like gorilla arms your kind of tost.
Also in the lore mantis blades aren't the only option when it comes to cutting they are just the only ones that made it into the game, they got some that turn your fingers into razor sharp claws, they got ones specifically for your nails but they only work when your slash them in a certain way so you don't cut open your own neck scratching yourself. There also mods for you teeth, "vampires" gives your vampire fangs as well as making your chompers razor sharp (kinda like jaws from james bond) but only these crazy ♥♥♥♥♥ from this one gang likes em because blood does not taste good lol

the limbs are made of solid mats, not just flesh, theyre probably reinforced to ♥♥♥♥ and wouldnt weaken them all that much if at all.

They're a bit exotic for cyberblades and wouldn't be my first choice if the other options were in game.

I prefer monowire, you get to keep your arms mostly and it`s better weapon anyway, especially if you go against group from close range. Also it doesn`t have this drawn out animation like mantis blades.

They don't hollow out the arms, your whole arm gets replaced.

They look cool, But they also look extremely flimsy even if they're made of titanium. Unless they go rigid and there's extra servos in the arm to add support for weight and mass, I feel like they couldn't actually support the weight of stabbing another human being and lifting them in the air.
This is just one of those fictional game abstractions that wouldn't work in real life under the real laws of physics and tensile strengths etc. that we have to suspend our disbelief about. Along with bloodflow turbines being able to generate enough electrical current to power entire advanced computer systems, super powerful cybernetic limbs not tearing our bodies apart anytime we used them, and so on and so forth. There's never going to be a fully internally logically consistent game because there will always be absurdities and abstractions for the sake of the premise on offer.

For cool factor I love Mantis Blades and Monowire.

If I could get my hands back Blades are ok with me.

The monowire though in real life? Yeah... gonna stay away from that without there being some failsafe programming within the wire itself which keeps it from hitting myself.

"Don't shoot your eye out" from "A Christmas Story" becomes "Don't slice your head off." :D

I see where OP is coming from, but then again, pretty much anything in these types of games is a bunch of impossible-fantastical-magical mumbo-jumbo bullcrap.

Double jump? WTF is that about anyways? Don't get me wrong, I love bouncing around like some CyberBunny, but c'mon, the thing lets me jump while in mid-air, how ridiculous is that? :steamhappy:

Monowire is like the kung fu weapon rope dart, damn dangerous when you have not mastered it perfectly.

Nah, targeting software adjusts it automatically. Synchronized with Kiroshi even in its basic version.

Guess CDPR had to go with mantis blades for the game since in the original 80's pen & paper RPG an option for melee cyberware was wolvers, three blades which slid out from your knuckles. More practical and awesome but totally would get CDPR sued today.

Would be cool if we could get those claw nails that were in the anime

....the way you describe it the blades just come out of stumps...you still have a arms and the forearms are hollow, just because the arms are not the ones your born with doesn't make them not arms.
