+1 I agree.
Cyberpunk is as much of a car game as GTA is, seeing as driving is quite ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ prevalent, if you deny this you're in deep deep denial hombre. Hell, if mfing Ghost Recon Breakpoint can have vehicle customization so can this.
THE GAME'S MESSAGE IS ABOUT EDGE RUNNERS HAVING STYLE OVER ALL; HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO THAT IF I CAN'T PIMP MY RIDE?
wack
The driving is likely for the consoles only, to make up for all the missing content that blown deadlines left out. It seems like a lot but it's really not much at all. Considering how difficult it is to steer with keys, because they didn't put in any analog approximation keyboard driving code, it's full throttle or full braking, full left or full right... you yourself have to tappa-tappa-tappa-tap to go around say a traffic roundabout... it's just horrible.
HAVING SAID THAT
If you know the source material? (and for those that have never played a tabletop in their lives, they gave you a merged sourcebook in your Extras folder, go read the PDF and see why some of us get... uhm... "frisky!" playing some of the Johny/Rogue flashback missions!)
The color of your car should be blood splatter!
The first Mod I want has nothing to do with car colors - I want a "Maelstrom Death Race 2077!" - a nod to that cheezy '70s movie that I guarantee Mike Pondsmith has fond and hilarious memories of!
You race chromed-out psycho meatheads in their lead sled Mael land yachts and trucks, on the sidewalks, splatting as many people as possible, and ones you dismember or that scream "I have a family!" or "I don't want to die!" - BONUS POINTS! Make it so you can actually KILL other cars, not like Claire firing thousands of rounds but every single car makes it to the finish, no matter how many bullets or that you rammed them into a bridge abutment! SCREW THAT. DIE DIE DIE DIE!
And then for days after the race, anytime you're in your car and pass any NCPD, they immediately go 3-badge response on you and you have to high-tail it without running any over cause that'll trigger 4-badge and the turrets will imitation swiss cheese your wheels and your face.
Oh yeah. Can't wait!
But your car paint and interiors mod seems fun, too. Kind of.
I vehemently and unequivocally deny your claim. Driving is literally the core mechanic of the GTA games. The entire game is built around car chases. You will spend more time driving in GTA than you will doing any other activity (probably combined). On the other hand, in CP77 there are basically a hadful of times where you're required to drive a vehicle. Besides that it's an entirely optional activity (one which many suggest avoiding whenever possible in order to properly explore the city).
Of course it theoretically "can". But that doesn't mean we're owed it. There is literally an infinite number of features whose theoretical addition would make at least some people happy. It's impossible to give everyone everything they want. CP77 wasn't designed with you, specifically, in mind, so it's OK for it to not cater to your desires exclusively.
In Cyberpunk, driving is what you do in between the gameplay
"Vehicle Customiser" or "Appearance Menu Mod" can change any vehicle's colour and save it as required.
"Virtual Car Dealer +Various Optional Vehicle Packs" let you purchase any vehicle in the game in any available colour from your computer in any of your apartments - vehicle will then show up in your list and be available to be recalled..
There is also a mod to let you customise your vehicle's performance / handling etc "Car Modification Shop"
All these mods work without any drama..
if you are on PC why wait for CDPR to maybe implement some of this down the track when you can download these mods now...
Quite literally is developer failure to deliver as car customization was actually showcased and promised on their youtube channel. Void argument. In a game where supposedly player expression matters and customization is important, extensions of your player character should be considered as well.
If car customization is not warranted multiple variations of a car should've been given at least so we have some semblance of choice on our hands.
It really, really isn't. Combat is a core mechanic of CP77. Driving is something you can get through most of the game without having to do at all. It is FAR rom "just as much gameplay".
They were very much considered. There are multiple layers of customization on V him/herself. You can customize your weapons and clothing to a degree. You can customize your apartment. It is not a travesty that you can't re-color your car.
There is no "should" in creative decisions behind entertainment media. There's just what you, personally, like or don't like.
But let's get to the point here, this issue of yours has already been solved. There are mods that allow you to do what you want. It seems to me you're more concerned with villainizing CDPR than you are with car customization. And don't give me the "I shouldn't have to use a mod" schtick. Again, there are an infinite number of potential features that at least some people would like to see, and it's impossible to include them all. Your personal tastes and preferences are not inherently deserving of CDPR's attention, and the fact that mods allow you to get what you want anyway make all the whining moot.
I'm not gonna address this PR friendly regurgitated argument completely because i've made a much better point already in a much more condensed format than you did in your bibles you've posted around here.
I'm no stranger to mods and already am using several myself, I am simply calling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on people attacking OP while he is in the right.
As someone who works in creative media this is the single stupidest thing I've read today.
There most certainly are SHOULDS and NEEDS in creative media because you're creating a product for the end user which competes with similar products in the market, you're trying to sell a better service/function at the end of the day and meeting criteria set by your competitors is just as important as your creative vision.
And please, don't give me that bollocks about art, this might apply to indie projects but a AAA game is first and foremost a product and it's designed as such. The only game that might tick the artsy marks is Death Stranding which was met with harsh criticism despite being one of the best pieces of media in recent history.
Cyberpunk is quite clearly competing with several games and failing to do so in many regards. What makes it stand apart are art direction and atmosphere, outside of that it's one of the most mediocre triple A releases in recent history.
There's a very good reason why academically educated and competent people are hired into the art direction talent pool and not random schlomos from the street.
It's also quite bloody obvious that they wanted to add car customization but haven't due to budgetary/engine/time constraints but saying that it's unimportant or unneccesary is a coping strategy.
That "service/function" is having fun, and there is nothing more subjective than what one considers fun. Acting like it's a given that one's personal preferences be catered to demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of how creativity works.
A creative product that can, by definition, only be experienced subjectively.
I could not disagree more. You have a very narrow view of what "art" entails.
But that "failing" is only in the eyes of those making this claim. Because it's subjective.
Sure, for you. And that's entirely valid. But it certainly isn't the default perspective (if there were such a thing, which there isn't).
It's not obvious at all. It's confirmation bias.
