How do we know what you're doing wrong if you haven't even posted what visual settings you're running?, resolution etc.
Often, the easiest way to lessen GPU load is to reduce shadows. I do not have experience with Ray Tracing, but read that is system burdening as well. I would recommend starting there, from the limited information I have to go on.
early in the game i was getting playable frame rates now that i am doing more driving parts the framerates dips to unplayable levels
what settings are u running it at?
I have a setup similar to yours (6700k and 1070fe) and I find that the game runs fine. Mostly high settings at 1080p and it doesn't really go below 40 fps. Does it stutter once in a while ? maybe, but I find it quite playable. I have friends with lower GPU (1060 I believe) and they're able to enjoy the game.
(Not talking about the bugs of course, which are irrelevant to how powerful your setup is).
Unless by problems, you mean you don't get constant 60 fps at all times ?
it specfically stutters when i am driving. every where else the framerate is acceptable
As long as you're getting 30+ fps at the settings and resolution listed for the given hardware shown here https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/sp-technical/issue/1556/cyberpunk-2077-system-requirements (so for a 1070 that would be 1080p High presets or anywhere up to 30% or so better than that what the 1060 6GB gets at those settings) the listed requirements are accurate. Even if your performance is not ideal.
Ok, maybe you're more sensitive to it than me. Or maybe the game interacts badly with your particular setup, the joys of pc gaming.
One thing I found to increase a bit performances (at least in terms of average fps, not sure about sudden drops and stuttering) is to increase power and Temp limit on the GPU with afterburner. (Of course the GPU fan becomes quite louder, but it's not catching fire and not crashing). Maybe worth a try ?
No, seriously that's a load of bs. The "entire game industry" includes consoles which VERY often target 30fps. And high settings have never been considered recommended.
I absolutely disagree that it means, or should mean 60fps high settings.
Sure they might specify what recommended and minimum entail to avoid misunderstandings, but I'm pretty confident that 40fps is absolutely enjoyable outside of competitive shooters.
