White X's everywhere?
This has been bugging me for weeks now. I've noticed ALOT of white X marks all over the city, they have a meaning? First thing that comes to mind is "X marks the spot" i i never found anything. Couldn't come up with anything from searches either - (hence this post)

Anyone found anything or at least noticed them?

You got a picture of it? There's white Xs on your minimap, which is lootable bodies with common items (green, blue, purple, and orange also available) but would think you know that already so it won't be that.

At OP No clue been wondering the same thing lol I do remember reading a shard that mentioned somewhere marked with a cross thought it was to do with that, but then I started finding them everywhere lol

More than likely more content they scrapped..removed

Sometimes the artists in charge of world building leave marks on buildings for different development reasons. So they can comeback and fix something or reference point for where things should be facing. Maybe it's just that and they forgot to remove them. Maybe it's an actual game secret.

Thought did cross my mind, was going to make a post about the crosses last week but just thought it would get lost amongst the angry crew posts lol

Never thought that it could be a dev thing lol but does make sense they may use markers when creating large city scapes :)

The only other thing I wondered is whether they where tied to a hidden achievement that you may get for visiting all the locations :) other than that like the OP not found any significance to them yet lol

I think it could be possible trigger flags during ongoing missions and since the map is littered with missions it would make sense it's littered with Xs. Question is why the devs made them visible. Could be an oversight I guess.

Thank you. Had never seen before, possibly from not being on foot so much.

i actually thought it was graffiti..lol.

Would never have picked that out as something other than the designers having their own personal reasons for it.

Certainly would never consider it as something that would ever be part of the action.

"Haha they cut content" jokes aside. It might just be nods to city utility codes, which are quite common in urban cities. Could be part of some kind of un-known treasure hunt of course - Wouldn't be the first game to do things like this.

True, could be NCPD marks for crime scenes, or crosses left by anonymous persons where a friend died, or gangs codes. Also can be military code (maybe 6th street) because similar crosses or circles are used IRL when you search for living persons in buildings after a catastrophe ( called FEMA and INSURG markings)

Maybe Scavs are illiterate but want to leave their mark?

I know this is super late, but I still wanted to say it anyway: I am of the opinion that it's just random graffiti to make the world seem more real and immersive. There is plenty of graffiti in big cities, including random "X"s, that mean something to the person who put it there, or to a group of people, etc. Homeless people and squatters are known to use symbols to mark different city locations of interest, to communicate with others in similar circumstances. Gangs do the same. In Cyberpunk, it could just be that those "X"s are decorations with that in mind.

Or perhaps it's a secret to be unearthed. That would certainly be the much more fun option, for sure. :happy_yeti:
