Don't do the hunt.
The hunt quest . What can I say? A long winded depressing quest that has you locked into buggy BD's. If I were you I would give this quest a miss. After a hour I gave up and loaded a old save.

Nah, this is one of the better side quests, and the BDs weren't buggy for me.
So, DO IT

i had some minor bugs with it but whenever i have a bug encounter i try to lod a previous save (i make sure i do several ones).

Honestly, this felt like the only mission where BDs actually worked. Its actually pretty scary to see things from the PoV of a serial killer instead of just some random bystander who usually ends up dead by the end of the BD.

What a bad advice. This is one of the best quests out there!
My advice: Do the quest and 'enjoy' the horrid story. If you get stuck in a BD remember to press X to exit it.

It's not bugged..more like you have lack of information. The BD in that quest has multiple parts and you have to press x to advance to the next one, problem is the game won't let you know in any way, it simply says "go to the next stage". So yeah devs need to update the quest text to reflect this.

I'm having a lot of trouble at the moment. I am around 100 hours in and thing have stopped working properly. Most missions now I can't even finish. It seems to get gradually worse the longer I play.

I also encountered a bug in "The Hunt" dream BD sequence and I had to reload and try again. It seems like it doesn't like it if some clues get scanned in the wrong order. I had something similar happen in "Dream On" but with the apartment investigation. These were both really awesome quests though, and it really is worth it to just try again from the top to see them through.

This is one of the side quests that I've often cited as being so good that in another game it might actually be the main plot or at the very least paid DLC.

A lot of people complain about lack of content in the main story but for me I like the idea that I can tackle the main story as quickly as I want instead of forcing me to do these sorts of missions. In a worse game this would have been a required mission which would have just felt like "padding" to increase play time. Here the fact that it's a "take it or leave it" side quest is really cool. Because like I said the plot and the writing are strong. Strong enough to be something on it's own.
I disagree. This was (so far) the most affecting and memorable quest in the game for me, other than Evelyn's death and the Delamain quest. Easily up there with the Bloody Baron/Ladies of the Wood/Whispering Hillock questlines in TW3 imho. YMMV of course, as always. It is a slow burn and if you don't like brain dances in general then it will definitely impact your enjoyment and investment a lot. Fortunately I love them.

This is one of several examples of CDPR's side quests often being as memorable and well implemented (imho) as many other games' main quests.

Disagree. The Hunt and Dream On were my favorite quests in the game. Even more so than the main quest.

I was thinking... If only we could use the tech from The Hunt quest to look into Evelyn in her Coma.
