Why can't you shoot kids?

I get why you can't just murder special NPCs, they take part in the story, but random kids on the streets still have this kind of protection. You can slice their mother in half with a katana but doing the same with the child is too far even for V?

Killing children in video games is one of those things that is almost never done.
It only fit in with Fallout 1 and 2. And a very small handful of games. I don't think it's even done in Hatred. Mostly because the Antagonist probably thinks that line is too far.
V's not 10,000 times worse than Idi Amin, so he or she is not going to go around killing kids period.
I'm just saying, it's a human psychological condition.
It's why Child Soldiers are so damn effective.
It's nearly impossible to kill children, even when they are attempting to kill you with guns.

Beacuse the politically correct fanatics would cry endlessly if you could so the devs wanted to avoid the trouble.

Back in Fallout 2 (when games were actually properly immersive without compromise) you could kill kids. With terrible conseequences... but you could.

It's a psychological thing.
Killing children is a nearly impossible thing for anyone to do.

They may disappear.

I know that they run in some scenarios. Scream even. Had one kid sitting with his mom next to me one day. I pulled out weapons on accident. Shot the wall. Kid started yelling and ran out of view, (went up a flight of stairs even) his mom ran for a bit, but stopped by a fence and told me not to go any farther. I backed off and she then followed the kid up the stars (albeit, she didn't run like one would expect)

This is the hypocrisy in games. People say this is a mature game, showing boobs and ♥♥♥♥♥, but they don't want to see kid's blood all over the place, to me this is BS. One thing that I hate in this entire planet is any type of censure. Killing kids is "too far" in games, even games made to 18+ people, people who knows what sex is, who can customize 6 types if ♥♥♥♥♥, and yet, can't kill kids.

Dont lie. You can't cut civilians in half, gore is disabled on them for some reason.
