I want to look cool, not like a clown
Seriously, why do almost all of the nice clothing pieces make me look like a clown or some kindergartner that dressed himself? There needs to be some sort of "Dressing Room" feature so I can wear reasonably cool outfits. At this point, even character customization is completely worthless since I wanted to look cool, but I look like an idiot.

1. As items get more powerful, they look cooler. I currently and level 19 and I look like Harrison Ford from Bladerunner.

2. You never see your character except in ... 2 cutscenes? So why the ♥♥♥♥ does it matter.

3. Looking like a clown, in that world, is considered to be "COOL" sorry. Did you not notice every NPC wearing bright coloured clothes or did you miss that part?

This is not a dark and edgy apocalyptic world. The idea of fashion sense exists and in the future, it is different.

Go figure.

The solution is pretty simple just make the clothing cosmetic with a armor slot which you can use to slot "armor chips".

My current outfit looks fine. It's all epic and legendary gear which I've been upgrading because I like the stats and mod slots.

So, if you find something that you like, whether it be for looks or for stats, just keep it.

You don't have to keep chucking stuff away.

If you're a decent player you can't still beat everything that you come across, even if your gear isn't up to snuff. I play on the hardest settings. Not all of my gear is at full strength.

I mean.. you can pretty much dress up however you want.. you can also go for the stats, you can also upgrade your clothes you like to become better, so you get both.

You can also go naked. Not that it matters for looks since you are invisible anyway.

i found the quirky gear quite funny. Its a non issue for me as the game is first person anyway, but later on you can finesse your gear so...hey ho

No idea why they went with the idea of clothing having armor stats, in a game that marketed itself highly on customisation they kind of shoot themselves in the foot with no 'transmog' & using the Borderlands loot system on top of that means if you ever find something you like the look of it will become obsolete instantly.

FYI: dont waste time upgrading Legendaries until you've maxed your level (50) as the next Legendary item you get will have better base stats that generally dwarf whatever investment you've made on your Legendary item with upgrades in the first place.

There is no point in modding and levelling gear until you're max level (50)
As the next item you pick up will most likely have better stats and loot table is tied directly with your level.

In example: Farming legendary components to upgrade your first Legendary Katana (street cred 11, level 8) will not let you keep up with the base stats of the next Legendary Katana that you find.

but if your just playing the game and dont want to farm stuff, you can easily upgrade you favourite gear however you like, you dont have to farm if you dont want to, and continue the action..thats what the upgrade is useful for..so you CAN upgrade.

My femme fatale looks fine.
These are just normal common stuff I bought from a clothes shop.
And I haven't even finished the prologue for this playthrough.

She's a Corpo, so this is her business wear when she's not on a mission.

Most clothes in game follow the Cyberpunk style. They are quite colorfull so to say.

Still you can find some nice stuff if you look a little bit around. Maybe it won't be the best gear, but you can upgrade it a bit.
