Johnny's attack was about the love of a girl. She was Johnny's gf and she (Alt) was a netrunner and the program used on Johnny in the flashback in Arasaka tower when they nuked it was the same program she made (Soulkiller). Which separates your "consciousness" from your body and as a result her ghost haunts the net. Johnny's attack on Arasake Tower in 2023 wasn't about a political statement, but revenge for the loss of Alt Cunningham. He did use the guise of freedom fighting to whip up an anti corporate frenzy with the masses in order to exact his revenge. He also died as a result to his hubris to Adam Smasher. Then from what I can tell his "ideals" echoed with many other people that "fight the system".
All my knowledge comes from CP2013 and CP2020 and a little of what I have experienced in CP2077.
playing the game on act 2: ugh here comes the ahole..
Maybe you shouldn't skip dialogue and read better to actually understand his reason
He don't want to understand, classic no-brainer who want to be in right rather than discuss and exchange experience to improve the understanding of each others ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
+ at my stade of the game he is an anarchist
