Melee combat
Was thinking of making a hand to hand combat character but i saw there was not very good melee combat in reviews, although the gunplay is great. I heard about this a few months ago but i would have hoped cdpr would have fixed it, i really do hope i could continue with that build but now im not too sure honestly.

Cdpr were never good at combat mechanics. All the Witcher games clearly show that.

Considering the only attack available is fists a whole character build would be a bit limited ya? 1 time in over 400 hours I have experienced a special combo with fists where I basically picked up the enemy and cracked they're neck or sth and then threw them. It happened so quickly I can't be 100% exactly what happened or how the hell I did it. I am so confused why fun combat like that is just an elusive mystery how to recreate it.

melee combat is pretty much the worst in this game.

I guess if you're going up against gunners a few flashbangs and rushing in works, but actual hand-to-hand combat really sucks in this game. You'll notice when doing the "beat on the brat" missions.

Damn, I'm not even level 20, yet, and I run a shooter/melle/quickhack cgharacter, switching between styles multiple times per combat.... and melee is very effective both armed/unarmed...
You guys just need to learn how to fight.

You may also want to relax or remove the melee aim-assists (off/light/on) that are default-on, if you are having trouble being effective in physical combat.

See for yourself. Melee in Cyberpunk may not be intricate but feels nice.
Just don't take knife throwing perk - looks cool but does lousy damage and you lose your knife.
I play without dedicated melee build, but Gorilla hands are still fun to use.

I did a katana blade build on my second playthrough and it was super op. It takes a bit to get going, but once it does you can run in the middle of 10 guys shooting you and not die as you slash them all to death.

Anything in the game can be OP which is kinda fun for me but I do agreed CDPR need to balance some perks and fix some bugs. It's a single player game that focus on story.

For a single player game I am gonna say melee combat is rather fun. Melee weapon doesn't feel like a baseball like in The Outerworlds.

Sadly fist combat is rather unwhelming due it got the same mechanic of Witcher 3 unblockable telegraph attacks.

Also w/ stealth totally wish Stealth melee weapon have their own animation.

I really liked playing as a double jumping katana decapitator.

Did they fix a bug where hand implants would disable the blood pump? Or is this an undocumented feature? Kinda really suck for a questionable melee charge loose the ability to restore huge chunk of you health.

Melee is not bad, but gunplay is better done.
And this guy posting about : cdpr were never good at combat mechanics, should finally play CP2077, because thing like this is just embarassing to say, 2 months after release.

He said hand to hand. Blunt weapon combat is definitely considerably different gaming experience than hand to hand. I guess hand to hand shouldn't be some big focus but it should be a lot smoother.

Maybe I can reassure you a little as I play a level 42 brawler/crafter atm.

I consider my character very powerful.

I completed all the fights including the final fight in Beat the brat easily as no one can hurt me when I block... instead, I heal while blocking and moving, I didn't need to even dodge any attacks. I felt I was playing with them, i.e., "that's the best you can do ?".

I have tons of armor (crafting) so guns don't hurt me much and high health (over 650). In addition to my high regeneration, I use a legendary second hearth so they must kill me 2 times in a row to stop me. I craft epic inhalers that heals 80% of my health.

Seriously, a brawler/crafter with gorilla arms and the right specs and cybernetics feel like a nearly invincible machine. You just have to be wary of mines and big explosions.

I found that both gunplay and melee/unarmed combat were lacking in depth. And they pretty much have the same feeling : it's ok, just very basic.

So don't worry too much about it, if you've found gunplay satisfying you'd probably have some fun meleeing. As SuperFly said, mix things out and stay mobile. It's the best way to overlook the shallowness of the mechanics.

Yeah I never got into melee comabt either, but I think the main rason for that is IDK how to use it in a fun way in the game, CDPR havent got the training module out yet so probably once they will or once a mod for that comes it will be easier to get a hang of how to get it to work with reast of the mechainics. Also obviously in this game your not suppoused to focus just on one type of weapon but rather mix them.
