Steamcharts player count
Hey people, just wondering what your guesses are on the player count for CP2077 in the first day on Steamcharts? Or.. the first update to the Steamcharts for CP2077? I'm calling half a million minimum.

im thinking less than 100k

given the large amount of sales not on steam for it 100k would be a good target

It's hard to tell how much is sold outside of Steam. But what we know is that the game has been on sale for almost 1.5 years now and has had the number 1 top seller spot plenty several times over the past year or so and has been almost consistently under the top 20 sellers since pre-orders became available. I have never seen any other game that had pre-orders be so consistently in the top sellers throughout. It reached number 1 spot again about 2 weeks ago and there is still well over a week left. Before that it was in the top 10 for like 2-3 months and in the top 3 for like a month at least. Though granted that the top sellers list is based on revenue generated and not numbers of copies sold, but still.

Peak launch day : 450k
Too many other platforms to reach higher on Steam on launch, is my prediction.

easily 7 billion if not more.

Hmmm... Last trailer on YT, on official CP2077 channel, has 26 mln. views, and this is EN version. Polish Trailer has about 250k views...

CP2077 was also for some time in top 3 on Steam sale list...

So I suppose that 500k is not too big number.

With the pandemic going on, and many ppl sitting at home, i say it's more than 500k on launch day, because ppl got nothing better to do.

I agree.

right?
Actually, you know, that's a good point re: how many people are quarantined or sheltering right now. I don't think I've sufficiently factored that into my thinking about this. A lot of people are really hungry for something to escape into right now. (I know I am.) We saw a bit of that dynamic back in the Spring with Animal Crossing too I think (even though that was always going to sell like crazy.)

So I think the ceiling might be higher than it would otherwise be. Especially since the other major releases for the Holiday 2020 season have already been released more or less. Maybe we'll see a lot more people simultaneously playing this than might otherwise be expected. The long, long preorder period also has to count for something.

My guess is 100k - 200k.

Even GTA5 only had about 200k peak during its launch

GTAV was on PS4 and XBOX one before going on PC, CP2077 is releasing on PC day 1.
There are some factors against steam getting alot of numbers, first physical copies will be GOG (this likely means most key sellers will have gog keys as well) add to that there seems to be a strong idea that buying from GOG helps the devs more and lastly we have new consoles people have spend money on and now need games to justify buying them, all of which mean we are likely looking at one of the worse market share for steam for a non delayed launch
