It's too late to add another API. Maybe after launch, or if someone mods it.
the rage if they came out and said we are adding Vulkan so its another delay of 6 months

Game Developers can never win.
You probably will be waiting til stadia launch
For what it's worth, they do seem to have explored the possibility of Linux support for TW3, so it's not entirely out of the realm of eventual possibility, but it does not seem to be anywhere in their current roadmap for 2077 officially. That said, we might see something like what happened for TW3 eventually happen where the broader dev and fan community makes it happen. And they certainly don't seem opposed to the idea at least. I think it's more a question of cost-benefit analysis vis-a-vis resources, time (for a game already repeatedly delayed,) and QA.

Forget Mac seeing as Apple are making their walls even bigger, and dropping Intel and AMD from their future machines. No dev is going to code for a tiny player base that won't use the same basic instruction sets as PC.
delay game until 2077 so we can have all the apis of the future, past and present

No, they're replacing it all in time.
Vulkan would be awesome but I'll throw every Proton version at this game if I have to. Even then if all else fails I'll boot up the Windows VM for this game.
DX12 question
Is it really only DX12 or there Vulkan option ?
dear god, make me immortal
+1 DX12 games can be quite picky with what Windows builds to run and make it harder to use on Linux. Given they have it running on Windows 7 i hope it will run fine on Windows 10 LTSB but usually DX12 gives me trouble if it uses features that were introduced in later versions of DX12.

Vulkan games on the other hand always worked first try with great performance. It would probably save a lot of trouble offering Vulkan as a fallback given the core of the API's is quite similar.

DX12 is fine it's a low level API just like Vulkan.

I agree, although the first iterations implementations were garbage, DX 12 has now matured enough and is actually quite good, most of the time.
