Cyberpunk is 2200ARS here(around 51$). Pubg is 550ARS(around 12$). Rainbow six is 700ARS(around 16$).Mortal Kombat 11(it came two months ago) is 1200ARS(around 28$).
Don't forget Steam sales. Pubg is 360ARS(8$-9$). And Rainbow Six is 350ARS(8$-9$). Hell, MK11 is 995ARS right now(like 23$).
Thanks to regional prices, I can buy all these games for 2245ARS(52$) at full price. Or 1705ARS(like 40$) at sales. With the regional price removed, the Cyberpunk 2077 game costs almost the same as the other 3 games together.
Maybe it's not even about the money actually. It's just that... People will prefer to buy an online game rather than a single mode game. I wrote about this the deleted comment but it was too much.
To make it short, people aren't intersted in a game like The Witcher. People prefer games like FIFA,CSGO/PUBG/COD, GTA... That's why our region represents a very small fraction when it comes to other games. Because only a few actually care about these games. Most will go for a game they can play houndred if not thousand of hours.
Thing is... I think Cyberpunk is gonna be different. Game is not released in 10 months and even my friends know about it. And they barely even play videogames so that mean this game is already relevant here, unlike The Witcher games. I mean, the more people know about it, more people will consider buying it... The more will actually buy it.
But increasing the price does nothing but going in the opposite direction... It doesn't take a genius to realize that if your products don't sell so well, you have to do something to change it... Not make it worse. So there's no way to put it. Increasing the price only makes people doubt about it.
And even if your next comment is "devs barely even get money from your region anyway..." I agree but, better sell 100k copies at 30$ than 25k copies at 50$. Common sense.
And I already forgot what was your point. It is unfair... You just said it, but you made it sound like if we're somehow wrong about it.
Why? I'm willing to pay the 1300 price.
whats your currency?
for me it costs 60€ and im not complaining.
It's easy to pay 60$ when you earn +1000$ for 8 hours/a day... It's not so easy to pay 60$ when you earn less than 300$(even if I do the same job you do... I only blame my country, it's not your fault) for 12 hours/a day. So even if we both pay 60$... You could say it's actually cheaper for you.
You can see it from CDPR perspective. If your products don't sell so well... You try something to change it. If you just increase the price... You're making it worse. You won't earn more money by making it more expensive... Because then even less people will buy it.
In short... It's better to sell 100k copies at than 40k copies at 60$.
Yes, maybe you could sell more than 40k at 60$. But think... 100k player vs 50k players. You know what's better for you... The bigger playerbase, bigger chances people will buy your expansions/DLC extra content. It's common sense
If you cant afford it dont buy it, not everyone in the western nations earns alot of money even that many ignorant people thinks so(which shows when you travel to their countries).
Its better for a set price across the board instead of special treatment and making it unjust.
Seems your pretty ignorant on peoples echonomy and thinking others earns alot when its way way different than you think.
And prices goes down when there are sales, same goes for every game. just look at gta5 and how long it was on full price.
I cant afford a new car, should i demand them to lower the price for me?
And to mention, all our prices of living is WAY higher than your prices, and now you want to feel entitled of a lower price on a game....
59USD on some countries translates to 20% of the national minimum wage... this is the reason why steam has its own suggested regional prices for publishers.
Just because the game is more expensive on a certain region, it doesnt mean that game is going to generate more revenue.
When the game was its original 1300ARS i could see people preordering daily, havent seen one single purchase since the game doubled its price on my friends list.
The fact that I go to college, get a nice job... and I still earn less than someone from a first world country. That's enough to realize why regional prices are important. Maybe this is not the reason for regional prices to be a thing, but it could be, and it would be more reasonable actually.
Don't come here and say it's unjust that some people pay less money than you for the same product... When the same people earn less money than you for doing the same job in the first place.
If you want a perfect world where we all pay the same price for the same things.... Then fight for a world where we all earn the same money. If you don't care about it... Then the first thing is a joke. And you're pretty much an elitist.
At this point, I'm pretty sure you'll think I'm a communist... I just realized I do sound like one... But I'm not. It's just that, you said it would be unjust for someone like you... Without realizing things are already unjust for someone like me. Just wanted to be clear about it.
Anyways... To finish my comment. I never insulted you and calling people "ignorants" with bad intentions just because you have a different view of the world... I mean... I could call you ignorant, but what do I know about what you know? See, it's stupid to call other people ignorants... We all ignore things. Pointing that out won't get you anywhere.
Just for curiositys sake since you think we all live rich in first world.
Whats the price per liter in argentina unleaded? here its 1.59$/liter
To do a simple dental check? its around 100$ just to look at ones teeth with xrays
load of bread about 2.5$ here.
what about taxes? they take 1/3rd(31.78%) for taxes then more after a limit.
1.5liters of milk around 1.70$
even argentinas gdp is better than swedens, hows that for irony.
