I can't catch Tuna
I just can't do it. I dnt get what I'm even doing wrong. I'm following the fishes directions with the rod. I'm tapping the thing at what feels the appropriate rate but the bar either swings all the way red or empties completely. I've looked up guides and videos but I don't get what I'm doing wrong. The videos show them messing up way more than I do with a slower reaction time, yet they seem to have so much more wiggle room for their timings.

Same issue for me, and many others. It has to do with the way they ported the game. See, the game as it was first released worked on gameplay mechanics that were dependent on 30FPS. So if you're running it at 60FPS it bugs out certain minigames, making them unplayable.

I've heard lowering the game to 30FPS helps, but I've tried it and it didn't help at all. Try it out and see for yourself if it works.

I was able to slow down the fishing game to human levels using this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2383618794

It was still a wee bit quick but at least doable.

I set it to 30 fps and it felt lik everything was the same speed but shown with only 30 fps. The animations kinda made my eyes feel weird at that point. Normally, I don't notice the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps too much.

For fishing (especially tuna, completely impossible right now) you need to set the FPS cap to 30fps in Nvidia control panel/the AMD equivalent or a third party program, you'll be able to tell straight away because the entire game runs at half speed, it doesn't do that with the in-game framerate limiter.

Don't need to limit the cpu or overload the gpu by maxing out settings, just set the framerate limit outside of the game and it'll work right away.

The QLOC guys are idiots, they always forget that the time windows are measured in frames, so the code has to take framerate into question (or use realtime clock to measure time, not frames like bad asian programmers always do).
I used cheat engine to bring the game to half speed and still couldn't do it. I refuse to cheat in Yakuza games so I haven't actually tried to force the distance to 0 but it should be fairly trivial. I'm going to wait to see if these special olympics devs give us some kind of patch for it before I go nuclear on that tuna. I will try to cut those cores though that Atari mentioned, although i don't like to do that at all. I'll report back and see what happens.

I wish someone could create a bot or TAS or anything for Tuna on PC.

I refuse to believe that someone is actually capable of catching it without heavily crippling the performance or limiting the framerate.

Could set the limit while inside the game too ;)

Can't speak on behalf of any other software, but you can setup macros in Special K to set arbitrary framerate limits.

[Macro.FPS] Ctrl+Shift+0=TargetFPS 30 Ctrl+Shift+1=TargetFPS 60 Ctrl+Shift+2=TargetFPS 15

Pick whatever limit's appropriate for the minigame you're playing.

Where do i put that, in the ini file?

EDIT:: YES! I just used the framelimiter in the options and set it down to the lowest it goes which was 24 fps and it was perfect. It made it about as difficult as the original ps3 game and a few minutes later I got it.

This time, Kaldaien, it does not fix the problem. The minigame is as difficult on 30FPS cap as is on 60FPS cap. It's fckd up in some new, creative way - the time window to hook the fish impossibly short in both cases.
set it to 24 fps, worked for me, like a charm. Try to keep the guage in the yellow, just watch the gauge and swing left to right with your reel and get the feel of it. Most of the time I'm just tapping the reel in button, sometimes I'm holding it if Tuna stays going in one direction but even holding it will reduce tension and he can get away that way too, so go against the grain sometimes and don't be afraid to experiement with pulling back and dropping the reel forward to get different pressure feedback.

been a long time since I did it on PS4. maybe about 6 months or something, what do I need to do? Run me through the steps since I'm obviously capable since I've done it before.

Did you manage to do it on PC?

I'll try it now but i gotta get to the point where the market is available. Just incase people haven't tried this though.

1. Get a Bento or a Shrimp (Bait) (from the fish vendor in Okinawa Market).
2. Each time you load the fishing minigame, the fish you can catch will be randomized.
3. Keep canceling and loading until a fish appears in the 100-150m end of the bar (eyeball it as best as you can).
4. Once it appears, throw your bait out to it and prepare for a grueling battle of man vs fish.
you may have done it in the ps4 version (i did it in the ps3) but this is completely broken. It's not that it's difficult, it's that in 50 ms it goes from green to red and you just don't have the physical eye or hand coordination to do it. I tried it probably 20 times and those were the 20 times I actually managed to spam the A button enough to hook the tuna since it lasts about 5ms on the screen.

I did catch the tuna but only by slowing the game down with Special K.
