is aw2 going to release on steam?
I won't support a company ( EGS! not remedy! ) that is hellbent on creating a monopoly in pc gaming where there are no verified third party resellers. just like nintendo and every other console eshop.

No, it likely never will.

I've made peace and just accepted that I likely will never play Alan Wake 2.

No beef against EGS, they funded the game development so they get to keep it as an exclusive, I'm just off the multi-launcher carousel.

Have 200+ games on steam and maybe 20 games scattered across Battle.net, UPlay, EA App, etc. Not going to add another one off launcher to the mix.

no beef against egs? no matter if they funded the game or not, that company is striving to turn pc into a glorified console.

steam allows third party resellers to enter the market and compete with them but egs doesn't want that at all. they want a nintendo eshop instead.

-Yeah, I don't see Valve's games available across alternate marketplaces. In this case EGS literally paid for the game to be made. It's their money, they get to keep the game as an EGS exclusive.

This is different from other BS timed exclusives which are developed and published by third parties, and then accept EGS money for a timed exclusive.

Remedy literally made AW2 with EGS money, EGS gets to dictate where the game is released.

that's true but thankfully valve barely bothers to make games anymore unless you consider reskins and a vr tech-demo, games.

but here lies the issue. does valve clamp down on competition from verified third party resellers when they sell games from ubisoft or ea? egs does.

epic recently partnered with ONE measly store to sell their keys which hardly comes close to the breadth of competition we enjoy on all the different storefronts. from gog-steam.

don't get me wrong. I wouldn't antagonize epic if they wanted to compete but unfortunately the braindead suits at the top decided to waste millions on exclusivity instead of trying to convince potential customers to use their storefront instead of steam.

This isn't true.

First of all, third party resellers for EA/Ubisoft only sell keys for EA App/Ubisoft Connect, not for Steam version at all. Epic doesn't prevent either one of them to keep on selling keys to third party resellers at all.

Second of all, Epic also provides actual keys to dev/pubs who can then choose to have anyone sell those keys.

Optionally, Epic has partnered with

Prime Gaming
Humble Bundle
GOG
Fanatical
Green Man Gaming
Genba and their integrated store partners
Nuuvem
Exertis Ztorm and their integrated store partners

to have keyless integration, but keyless integration isn't required to have keys on third party resellers stores.

again Idk how this disproves anything I claimed here when the prices are the same. alan wake 2 cost 49,99 on gmg, humble and epic... even pre-release.

the only other game I can find that has multiple stores selling it, is that salvaged garbage called dead island 2 which received a miserly 11% discount before release.

now compare that to steam keys that receive up to 30% discount before release.

Tbh I don't see a reason why epic wouldn't make it available on steam after few years. A profit's a profit.

Yeah, and you will get the patched and FUN version :)

The Alan Wake 1 Remaster launched on EGS in... October 2021, two years ago, and never left EGS.

Only way I see AW2 leaving EGS is the storefront itself collapses or Epic finds themselves in need of some quick cash (not likely, given Epic is about 4x the value of Valve),

I'm glad it didn't even though Steam is my go to Storefront. Woke Trolls are making Steam Less and Less attractive. I never EVER thought I'd be in favor of a storefront not having a comment section.

Steam Forums have devolved into Political Arenas. They are no longer a place for Gamers. The Game being on Epic means GAMERS can buy the game and get away from all the agenda filled nonsense. Steam is still the best Storefront but not a great place for game discussion.

Q: "Is the game stuttering for anyone else?"
A: "The stuttering is because Women and Soros are using Israeli Hackers from China to steal American Framrate Secrets using Black Fictional Video Game Characters".

The Game isn't even on Steam and look at the Forums here lol

So is every forum or social media on the internet, there is an easy fix, stay out of those convos, just patriciate in things you are interested in. There is all sort of things on steam forums including technical support for the games so rolling everything under Political Arena is not correct.

so is every "poorly" moderated forum on the internet.
if steam banned every topic that:
- is about modern day politics
- is about religion
- consists gender and race

obviously the awards need to go too but valve unfortunately doesn't care.

same issue is apparent in reviews. a braindead binary system in which 90% of the users abuse the system to either post unfunny "memes" or it's the same " bugs/hardware/drivers " etc., drowning out the only reviews that elaborate on why the game sucks in the first place.

Tell yourself what you want but I think what Epic does is going to become more attractive to Developers and Publishers. They have an excuse now to avoid actual GAME criticism. Don't get fooled into thinking the money they get for being exclusive to Epic is the only incentive and benefit to being on Epic.

That's some point though AW remaster was meh and AW didn't really need a remaster to begin with so that's different story with AW 1 on steam.
