Anyone have any recommendations for books that are similar to Alan Wake in terms of tone/atmosphere? Trying to find some stuff similar in style to it since I like this kind of stuff.

Well, some reviewers compare the game to the works of Stephen King. I have only read two books by him, so I'm not the best person to judge, but some of King's books might be worth checking out.

Additionally, Sam Lake, the lead writer of Alan Wake, has mentioned these books as inspiration for writing the game's story

Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (this one especially for the atmosphere!)

Stephen King's "Bag of Bones" has much in common with Alan Wake's story, since he's been mentioned already.

Well, it's just my suggestion, but I think you can like Marisha Pessl's "Night Film". It's also about affect of one man's creativity on real life. And this story is very atmospheric, too. =)

Misery by Stephen King is a must, if you bought the collectors edition of this game then you should have the book "Alan Wake files" which is very good and the free bonus materials include a couple of visual novels explaining some off-camera moments of the game.

Wayward Pines for the setting. The town and the woods in this game are pretty much the same. Story is different but really nice though.
