Does living in west point fit your playstyle?
You will have to ask yourself some questions:
Do you like the idea of being in a town?
Are you prepared to clear the area for a safe base?
Are you role play minded and have a backstory why West Point might be a place to secure?
West point is as viable an area as any other point on the map. You can base up anywhere and survive.
maybe if you want to attack West Point for its goodies, set up just outside of town, on the water side( for water) and then make forays into town.
You have a safe fall back camp to regroup and make plans.
Has a school and bookstore for skill books.
police shop for gunz.
firehouse that people seem to love to live in.
not to terrible with the dead.
It took me a full in game week solely using Machetes, Shotguns, and Molotovs to clear Westpoint of the undead
For West Point itself; aside from the high numbers of zeds it has everything you need; homes, police station, gun shop, pharmacy, the Giga-Mart, the warehouses and in the latest update there's a new tire/mechanic's shop near the bridge. The city has a good layout in general and it's easy to navigate. So for experienced players West Point is pretty perfect.
March Ridge has some value with it's VHS store and being a military housing complex a good chance to find some weaponry. Survivor homes have a high likelihood of generating there and vehicles. Otherwise I wouldn't go to March Ridge normally.
