Keep leveling fitness even though it's maxed?
I keep getting the "+1 fitness" jingle even though I started my currently character's fitness at 10. Anyone else ever see this "bug" are there any actual hidden levels beyond 10 fitness or just some sort of minor error?

I have been getting it on a mp server where i have 10 str 10 fit. Not sure why it happens.

Pretty sure it's mod related issue. Someone also asked about this same thing long ago.

Your character ever so slightly looses Fitness/Strength exp over time. Since the exp loss is so low when you drop from max exp lvl its regained just by doing daily tasks which re-triggers the jingle upon regaining max.

Vanilla bug.
Devs make you lose tiny amounts of Str, without having ANY buffer, so losing 0.00000001 Str, means you are back to lv9, and 1 second later you are back to 10.
Usually you just allow the value to... basically "go to 11 or 10.1 without doing anything" to prevent this, but you know... the game is only 13 years old. Give the devs some time!

Never heard of it being an issue in vanilla, so I'm not sure about this stat decrease business being true or not. Could be I guess but I'd need confirmation. At any rate I have had this happen with other max skills and it was definitely because of a busted mod. Stopped as soon as I switched to using reliable ones.

It shouldn't be a mod related issue, as I'm not using any mods that alter the calculations of stats, but it might be a side effect of a mod. It doesn't seem to actually affect gameplay at all. I'm not seeing fitness 11 or 12 or anything, but I was just curious. Thanks everyone!

it's not a mod related issue. fitness and strength simply decay over time unlike any other skill
the thing is, it's so slow that it's unnoticeable. UNLESS you have either skill maxed out. then you're just forced to hear the jingle from time to time

How long do you suppose this to happen then?
Exercise regularity does decay over time, but not your strength/fitness skill.
The wiki never mentioned this either.

I even tested this myself with a vanilla game.
I gave my character 10k fitness exp immediately at the start of the game:

I then sat around doing nothing but eating and drinking, and at the 20th day, there's still no change to my character's fitness exp:

Shouldn't I at least be losing 1 exp?

There is two way that can lead to strengh and fitness loss.

The first one isn't related to the OP : depending on your weight you gain a strait that reduce your max strengh/fitness you can have, meaning if you were at 10 you would drop a full level or more

The second one is not a bug, but a a badly coded feature from the dev made a long time ago. You can find said code you want, it's made public for a very very very long time already.
IIRC 1200 tick = -1 xp. You gain something like 14 xp for str when you just play, so you hear the leveling sound every 16800 tick or so I guess. Number are from my head but it shouldn't be far from the truth.
The issue is how it's done; it happen when you aren't earning str or fit xp for a while. During normal gameplay you will earn str or fit xp, so it won't happen, but once you reach lvl 10 you cannot earn any experience so you will start losing 1 xp until you go down one lvl, before earning back a tiny amount of xp and going up to lvl 10 again.

Like a few other things like this (well, there is more than a few tbh), it was never worked on since then (considering the speed of the dev, not surprising) so it's bound to stay here.

You can install a mod like this one to "fix" the issue :
