Zomboid Updates, Fact or Fiction?
Anyone else frustrated with how inaccessible the game updates for Project Zomboid are? It's like they keep dangling a carrot just out of reach! Let’s hear your thoughts—maybe if we make enough noise, they’ll finally listen and get their act together. Share your displeasure!

A comment to the developers:
Oh, Project Zomboid, where updates are as mythical as unicorns! You guys must have a time machine because every update promise seems to get lost in another century. It’s like waiting for a bus that never appears—except the bus driver keeps yelling, “Almost there!” Do you promise updates just to keep us from abandoning ship? Or is your calendar run by a sloth on a permanent coffee break? Maybe some time management classes would help? At this rate, we’ll all be zombies before we see the next patch. Thanks for the suspense, but we were hoping for more than vaporware!

There are so many games ruined by people rushing the developers to release incomplete content, than complaining about said content not being ready for release.

Please go play one of those games and let the Project Zomboid developers do what they do.

No, i'm not frustrated with the update speed. Early access is there to allow devs to work without time limits/pressure. You should know this, but you chose to be ignorant. On top of that, you decided to make a condescending hate-bait thread full of exaggeration.

A comment to "gamers":

if you have problems 'waiting' to the point of posting crap like this, then STOP BUYING EARLY ACCESS.

Okay guys, I bought this game in 2012 when the game had a story with bob and kate, which, at the time, promised NPC.... here we are, 12 YEARS later, and still waiting. I mean I get the argument about taking care of development, but in a whole life of gaming, I never saw a literal program so scarce in updates, but still hanging carrots on a stick

This is not a regular exemple. PZ is a prime exemple of what OP is talking about...This is borderline Star Citizen territory at this point

No I knew what I was investing in when I purchased this game back in 2014 and have since then about 3k hours in the game just trying new mods, new challenges, new sandbox settings. I would rather a game be done right than rushed like some other AAA games out there.

Games being easily accessible on steam make finding new games highly enjoyable, compared to the 90s, so I don't understand how people can get this frustrated over a game when there are other options available, if this game's development isnt at a pace that works for them.

Maybe take this as a learning experience and avoid early access games in the future, you can disable them in your store preference settings for steam.

Besides that this company does not give ETAS so when they say their build is going to release in 2024 , how is that not good enough lol. I often wonder if some people that complain about the speed are going to just blow through the update in like 2 days once it comes out and be like "thats it?!"

I wonder how you can have such an argument if you indeed bought the game in 2014. I mean don't get me wrong, the game is absolutely a gem, but sadly I won't be alive to see release. Do you remember the fire and lost of progress? At times they have dropped updates on their forums alltogether. It is not about going in for early access, it is about comparing other programs (not just games)

I bought minecraft around the same time. It has released.
I bought KSP 1 a little bit later. It is released and working on the second project.
Kenshi was in development, single man developing it. Released and working on the second.

It is not a question of investing into a game that bother most people on this specific game. It is the lack of delivery. A lot of other indie, or even single devs, just release. Manor Lord is single dev and delivers (for the time being)

Like I said, I love this game, I do! It is a gem and I understand the 'aim for perfection' but I wonder what is happening at Indie Stone for them to be comparable to Star Citizen. I literally have no other exemples....

To put it bluntly? I am in my 40s and I just don't think its that big of a deal? Life is way too short to get worked up over a game when there are far more important things in life to be doing. So if something irritates me or out of my control I remove it from the equation. I used to get kind of frustrated with Valheim's slow pace but dunno just kind of got over it?

To each their own though, I just don't think its healthy to fixate on negative things in life.

In their defense, and I know I'm playing devils advocate here, but it HAS been around 2 1/2 years since build 41 was released. It's understandable for patience to be wearing thin. That being said, recently the devs stated that they have locked-in the build 42 features. Nothing more will be added to build 42 release candidate at this point. This means they are no longer chasing a moving target. Hopefully an unstable build will be ready in the next month or two. It would be nice if they could make a release date of 9 July since that's the starting in-game date.

I can hold out a little longer. The game is still very fun as it is.

I totally understand this. I don't want to be whiny or anything, because at the end of the day, you are right on this specific point imo. But it is still okay to have an opinion on things you like, and development really is slow and that is a dislikable fact, but a fact nonetheless. Just wanted to point out that OP point is understandable. YOu do make a point though. I just moved on to other product, enjoyed them and got back to PZ for what it has to offer.

Just like anyone else though, I like to see programs I like develop into their better versions, and I just feel 'sad' (for a lack of a proper word) that it is unreasonable to think it'll see light of day someday. Anyhoop, kudos and have a great day pal :)
