Is there a mod to adjust loot more freely?
I have more fun in PZ when trying to make the world more realistic to a zero-warning apocalypse. I.E. a supermarket should have thousands of food items in it, or at least hundreds. A police station or gunstore should have thousands of rounds (IRL ammo often comes in 50, 100, 500, 1k and 5k round boxes just for civilians).

Basically, I want the freedom to make my singleplayer game as loot heavy as I want, but the vanilla sandbox options only go up to "abundant" which isn't anywhere near what I'd like.

I looked around and couldn't find any mods for "increasing" loot, only decreasing it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Well then there is nothing community can do. If abundant in setting isnt enough you can spawn items manually. Only way for you.

I also think the game would benefit from more freedom in this aspect. Maybe introduce sliders instead of drop-down list? Or allow players to type the multiplier themselves? I wanted to do a Raven Creek low-population sprinters-only challenge run and even on lowest settings there's very often at least one item in a container. Too easy for me, in this regard. I heard there's a mod for loot scarcity, but haven't heard of one for loot abundance.

Besides, vanilla "abundant" isn't at all that abundant when I played 16x population modifier (max possible). It's just a normal amount for 16x population, considering how long the player stays in one place and how much effort it takes to clear an area.

If I remember correctly, "Pomp's Items only" (or the name went something like that) mod allows to set the multiplier up to ONE HUNDRED (100.0x), allowing you to fill many containers with loot to their limits. Shame it's only food. Brita allows you to spawn more weapons and ammo that would ever fit in a container. So, combining these two (and proper setting up Brita which may be a philosophy in its own right) might do the trick, although it's not the same as a proper substitute.

i swear there is a mod that adjusts the loot sliders in sandbox
also gunfighter that comes with brita weapons mod has it's own sliders for loot related to the mod.

I think Brita has heavily customisable drop-down lists, rather than actual sliders. I play Brita in SP only, so I don't know if it configures the same way in MP.

The only thing I could think of if the default loot settings aren't good enough is to add MORE items to distribution tables, which means adding mods! Add more weapons & tools, foods, clothing, etc. and it'll fill up the shelves more.

With Brita's sliders turned way up you can definitely loot enough ammo in a month to spend the rest of your character's career just blasting. That said, now I've read the thread I kind of want to make a map mod that's just a giant treasure trove of guns and ammo for quick starts.

try the more loot settings mod. it has a multiplier that goes up to 10x for many things like ammo, guns, weapons, food, etc...

A/Some mods you may have could be interfering with loot settings. I always had issues with ammo spawns despite them being set to rare, they spawned as if they were insanely rare. After removing one of my mods I was finding them as intended.

Thanks for sharing "More Loot Settings"! I'm gonna check it out, though it seems like its aimed at less loot, hopefully the modifiers can be increased substantially

I'm even thinking if i need to watch a tutorial to edit the game's files myself to make the changes I want, maybe I could make my own mod of it. I get that most players just want a harder game with less available stuff, but that's not what im into, if I walk into an untouched police station I should expect to find at least hundreds of rounds for all stocked weapons, instead of maybe 50-100 on vanilla settings, or even less on very rare. Same thing with all resources and locations, a hardware store should probably have so many nails in that one locations that you never need to look for nails again, like 100 boxes of nails. Have you ever counted the number of canned goods in just 1 aisle at a supermarket? Obviously there's game limitations, but 1 person should be able to live off a single grocery store for at least a year minimum.

That's the kind of loot I'm looking to create for myself, as I don't enjoy scrounging for scraps when the world is supposedly untouched, everything should still be stocked until a survivor touches it

You'll have to look in to adjusting the encumbrance system as well, as vanilla carry capacity and storage isn't going to be able to keep up with the amount of loot you're looking for.

do you not remember the toilet paper scare during covid? realistically, the shops would be empty week 1, except plant based meats, that would be untouched.

If I remember right, the infection spreads to the whole world but it starts in knox county first, and there's 2 strains of virus. The first strain is airborne, basically infecting everyone before they could react, which is why everything is untouched. The player character, along with a rare handful of others, are immune to the airborne virus.

The second strain is the infection spread through bodily fluids which nobody is immune to, and is what kills you if you get bitten.

All of that is my lore-based rationale for why /most/ locations should be fully stocked and untouched, there was no reaction time for the population to panic buy anything. Beyond that, my gameplay rationale is that im tired and annoyed by only finding scraps of loot everywhere instead of full stores and stocked home kitchens, I want to do more than just scavenge, hence why I want a way to drastically increase loot density
