Update 42 Optimization
With update 42 they claim that they have optimised it greatly, i'm hoping that when i'm fully zoomed out that I won't be stuttering at 23 fps with my 4090. But when are we going to get a proper UI for 4k? all the menu buttons are small and menus that open can't be made bigger aside from the inventory, and the options some hero will claim fixes this in the settings, it doesn't, all it does is make the text bigger which doesn't help. Lowering resolution is also not a fix because it looks blurry. It's 2024, don't tell me no one isnt using 4k cause that is far from the truth now, 4k is much more common today then it was say 5 years ago, so there's no reason to not have a proper 4k resolution in this game. How much longer must we wait for an update to this game.

Someone here on the forum has a 4k UI fix you can try.

I've tried a few ways, as far as modifying game files and all it fixed was the inventory, none of the buttons or other menus

I wouldn't recommend playing the game right now anyways, build 42 is right around the corner and I believe it's been mentioned there may be a proper 4k fix coming.

I can't find the thread but someone posted recently in the last week or two about how to get 4k working good.

Pretty sure b42 has proper 4k ui. They have someone working solely on that, it's a couple dev blogs back.

No one is using 4K because it's absurdly ressource heavy and because 2K 144FPS is always better than 4K 60FPS... When it's even possible to maintain a steady 60 fps at 4K of course ;)

But yeah, a fix is coming in B42 for 4K. There has been a news about it not long ago with pictures even. The December or November one, it's pretty recent.

Reading the blog news is usually the first thing you should do if you have questions on a future update, they are doing those for a reason ^^

Eyes can adjust to anything when it comes to framerate/refreshrate. You can lock your FPS to 30 for 10-15 mins and then switch to 60fps and it will look as smooth as 120fps after that.

Nothing wrong with playing at 60fps at all unless you are too stubborn/impatient to let your eyes adjust.

Framerate is more than just smoothness, there's more frame data in higher framerates and refresh rates.
It can matter in fast paced competitive games but I don't think it matters here as much, though 60 FPS is objectively better than 30 FPS regardless of if your eyes have adjusted or not.

Also the guy you're replying to didn't say that 60 FPS was a problem he just said that 144 is better which it objectively is, he put more emphasis on the fact that 4k is so resource intensive it can in many cases not even maintain a stable 60 FPS.

Hurm, no, like not at all...

Nothing wrong with playing at 60 FPS, but 144 is always better, it's as simple as that.
Playing anything under 60 FPS is wrong. Of course, you don't need 60 or 144 FPS in every game, you can most likely play any game at 15 FPS if you want ;)

It has absolutely nothing to do with "eye adjust" or anything, playing at 60 FPS you see twice more images per second, plain and simple, making everything smoother. That is even taken further with 144 FPS. Once you tried 144 Fps, you don't come back. And I can assure you that locking a framerate at 30 for extended periods of time doesn't makes things go smoother ^^

Above that, it starts to be difficult to tell the difference even though it's there and the performance hog isn't worth it. And to get back on topic, that is the same kind of issue with 4K: The ressources required are way too high for a too small benefit.

And nowadays many games have difficulties running at a smooth 144 FPS even at 1080p regardless of your hardware (making a bit of a generality here, but you get the point) so a smooth 4K 144 FPS experience on every game running on max settings is still a future tech.

But yeah, 4K support is coming in B42 ;)

Hello everyone, when will the 42nd build be released? I am very tired of waiting for him, I would like to play before the urgent service, I have been waiting for a hundred years)

I think you are confused here, I can live with the shotty frames, but a UI that can't even scale properly is ridiculous, but I bet you'll meat ride that train into oblivion wouldn't you.

budget cards can easily run 60 fps on 4k with max quality, like the 4060, 4060 ti or the pricier 4070. I can easily get well over 200 frames on most games, some even at the same refresh rate as my monitor (240). jumping from 1080p to 2k isn't even worth the money imo, the average 2k monitor is usually 400 to 500$ with 4k usually being around 600$ and up, like MSI's 32 inch 4k 144hz monitor (G321CU). Anyone with a entry level card like the 4060 can run 4k60FPS and enable dlss. Hell the PS5 can run 4k 60hz and it looks smooth and high quality.

Not entirely true, I can enjoy quite a few game at 4k144/165 or higher, some games even get more than 200fps or top out my monitors RR. I think what you are talking about is using hardware from 2012 to run a game from 2024, or mixing the wrong cpu/gpu combo which will cause bottleneck and make actually make games run worse.

He is saying that 1440p 144fps is better than 4k 60fps, which I think is wrong. 4k is a huge upgrade over 1440p in image quality and I would take 4k 60fps over 1440p 144fps literally every day of the week. Framerate doesn't matter much once you do like I said, just trick your eyes into making 60fps look smooth again. It's not hard, spend 3 days playing a game at 60fps and you won't even notice it anymore, especially on a VRR display and a PC capable of running a locked 60 with a RivaTuner cap.

I prefer 1440p 144hz, but I'm also using a monitor that's smaller than 30"

I could see 4k for a bigger screen.
