Does anyone even play legit Apocalypse mode?

Everyone I've seen play Apocalypse mode either uses mods that make the game easier, exploits fences during combat, exploits fires, build bases entirely around exploits in the building mechanics so zombies can't pathfind/damage their stuff.

I'm convinced that no one plays this game legit and cheeses their way through the game experience.

Is this a symptom of bad game design principles? Or the playerbase attempting to convince themselves they got gud?

I play what i call "apocalypse-lite", no zombie respawn, mini map, 2x longer days.

Update on that character.

They are still doing okay . Taking out some of the hoarde each day. But he is severely limited by an ongoing depression.

I've tried everything to help him. Walks . Fresh fruit. Comics. Smoking. Drinking.

Poor guys just hates his new life.

Default apoc is boring, you become a unstoppable killing machine past 9 months. Its funner to play with insane-max pop.

2 months and counting is not very long. If you're not making it at least a year you shouldn't be so cocky. But yeah 2 months is really not a very long at all I would consider 2 months a beginner level you are dying really early on.

It's a sandbox game for a reason, you tailor the experience to your own liking and enjoyment, if the game is too difficult people will be put off, and if too easy, they will get bored, so we play it the way we like, whether modded or custom sandbox settings.

it's simple - don't care about your character. if one didn't work out, build a new one. your stuff is always back on another zombie, so you're already halfway to where you were originally when you find it. just gotta get the skills back.

Personally, I love 0.2 Start Pop and a 4.0 Peak Pop in my custom game settings. It gives me every step of challenge the game has to offer in one save. I usually set my peak day to around 28 days (because of 28 Days Later) if that gives you an idea. I think one of my saves ended up being like 6-7 months long before I got bored and stopped playing for a bit.

I've played it a few times naturally. It's fine. But mods just add more and make it more fun.

Apocalypse is too easy, you spawn in safety and you can just grind EXP like crazy on the TV the first 2 weeks and also you get a massive ammount of loot everywhere...

Currently on a run that I survived over a month and got over 3k kills in CD DA Challenge, this mode actually sparks a bit the game, I really can not start another Apocalypse run, is way too easy.

I did not cheese anything, I got currently spears lvl 5 and I just clear out lots of zombies specially from where I have my base to keep it safe, only thing you could say is "cheesing" is that I just try not to fight an entire horde at once I just get the attention of a small group of the big group to go away chasing me and then I slowly kill the entire group, I havent even managed to find a working car.. mostly just been busy looting all the houses I can to hoard as much food as possible in case the winter gets really bad and I can not even get out of the base without freezing...
