finding good backpacks way to fast?
play on apocalypse, i always end up with the best backpack within the first 9 days (TV is still running), idk but i feel like you shouldnt get something better then 50% weight reduction that early and on average find that better backpack after a month or so.

at least i think thats the best, 85 weight reduction

Sounds like some lucky runs. Sometimes I'm stuck with school bags or at best a dufflebag for weeks.

It's luck of the draw, but I find it hard to believe you're getting a military backpack in 9 days... Where are you going?

You can get all the stuff you need on the first day if you know where you're going, it's not like an MMO or something where you have to grind or survive a long time before you find stuff, it's RNG based but also there's no scaling or anything to stop you acquiring the good stuff when you want it.

If you're finding good things and you think it's too soon you'll probably want to try sticking to less affluent areas and avoid travelling. Modded maps or places like Louisville Cordon and Army Suplus are high value loot spots you can try avoiding too.

Try making your own sandbox settings too. Reduce loot to the rarest settings, set survivor cars / house stories on a lower setting, that kind of stuff. Then hope you don't immediately stumble upon a prepper zombie with a big backpack or spawn next to a safehouse, which can happen. Maybe even install that mod that slowly increases loot rarity as time goes on too.

If you feel your game needs adjusting, adjust it!

i spawn in muldraugh, have my base always in one of the 10 hourses in the fenced area where you usually spawn in most of the time. there or in one of the houses around that is usually an event where i get it or when i make my way to the left fuel station (i do that really early cause i usually start with mechanic and grind electronics within the first 5 days, then try to get fuel and then i can start any car i want)

The military backpack is a bit better than the large backpack.

You can find them on army zombies or where army things are.

You can score a large backpack if you survive the encounter....
Ever see a tight pack of 20 zombies all in a ball?
In the middle of that dense cluster can be a large backpack zombie.

Large backpacks can be here too:

And bags can be found in places you can find bags normally.

Modded backpacks and bags will vary and I am not commenting on a modded game.

or events, i usually get that from events like dead survivors on street.

Dude, it's RNG based. There's no way to implement what you want without...I dunno, some kind of major overhaul of zombie inventory so they never have bags equipped or on them, and then disabling the spawning of the bags in the events and/or at static locations, and THEN having some kind of timer that allows the bags to be spawned after a certain number of days have passed.

I have no idea how you'd even start to go about coding that. Go check the workshop. Maybe someone has something along these lines...but I doubt it. And there's no shot they put a system like this into the game proper.

Uhh.. This doesn't sound like some insanely complex mechanic. We already have a lot of things and events tied to the passage of time, like water shutoff, electricity shutoff, TV stations, and such. Enabling certain items to drop past x amount of time is likely not a "massive overhaul" kind of thing.

Not that I think it should be done, just chipping in that it's really not the hardest thing to implement.

sorry to tell you this but i actually know some things about programing and all youd need to do is to change numbers of how likely things are to spawn and events to happen xD

^this is also a way to do it. idm if thats not default, but i think a new even more difficult mode as already existing mode wouldnt hurt

Cool. I have no idea, myself, coding wise. Still don't believe the devs would put this into the game proper, though. I believe they like the punishment/reward system of the current randomness.

Could do a mod to make it similar to katanas.
They don’t spawn (on zombies) during early days unless you’re in a 6months preset thing.

Though have to manually add additional code to account for mods that add custom backpacks.

Should be doable without a doubt.
