I've been dismantling digital watches forever now and they're just not enough to make a dent after about 2-3 levels. I know they help out so long as you're doing other things to level up Electrical, but they're horrible on their own.
I've also dismantled other items on zombies, like earbuds and walkie-talkies.
I may just try it, though. I'm currently in Rosewood and have found 3 generators, one which is already at the gas station.
Edit: I found 2 more generators
If i recall well tv-s give 2.5 xp if you read the appropriate book.
Wall clocks are also good (1.25 XP).
Edit, I think I've had these all wrong, I was going purely by the skill book multiplier.
With total multiplier, I have it as:
TVs are 2.0.
Stand Lamps, Wall Clocks, and Paper-Towel Dispensers are 5.0
Hood Extractor (device above industrial ovens) are 10.0
Those magazines can only be found in certain spots and are probably tougher to find than the generator magazine.
And does crafting radios reward XP? I'm not sure.
