Help! (Solved!)

i really love PZ but when i run the game it boots up for 2-5 seconds then shuts itself down.. any idea? every thing i have tried including deleting it and re installing, going different beta or even deleting all my files doesnt work...

You can try going to your game folder and running the game with ProjectZomboid32.bat
Go to your Steam Library > Rightclick ProjectZomboid > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files > Run ProjectZomboid32.bat

You can also try disabling voip
Steam Library > Rightclick Project Zomboid > Properties > Set Launch Options > Type -novoip > Start the game
If that doesnt help, type -nosound as well.

does adding -nosound mean the game doesnt play sound?

@Beard i tried both options, i either did something wrong, or it doesnt work for me.. both are equally possible

Hmm, try also verifying your files
Steam Library > Right click Project Zomboid > Properties > Local Files > Verify Local Files

You can also try disabling the Steam overlay
Open the Steam client and navigate to the Steam > Settings/Preferences > In-game tab. Uncheck the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.

If nothing helps, you can go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid
Open the console.txt
Copy everything from there to https://pastebin.com/
Share the link to the pastebin here.

That file should have most of the information about the crash so we can take a look at what went wrong.

It seems like a problem with your drivers as explained in the post that I linked.
Try updating your drivers, the graphic ones mainly from the manufacturers website and then try running the game again.

i updated my drivers and it has indeed worked, the game boots up normally but there is a slight anomaly it seems, it keeps saying i need to adjust my resolution to 1680 1050 while i am already at that resolution... even tho i prefer 1360x768

Do you also have your screen set to that resolution? Not just the game?

i have my screen set to that resolution... i dont know how to adjust the game resolution

You can change the resolution on the Options in the main game menu. Or go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid and edit the "options.ini" file.
