Graphical overhauls planned?
I'm seeing this game a lot lately and also spotted its 2013 inception and still in early access (not that there's anything wrong with this as I understand they're a small team).
Has there been any talk of overhauling/updating the visuals? I get the sense they wanted minimalistic in scope (again, nothing wrong with that) but the graphics at present take me back to the original Sims quality from back in 2000.

I'd say the only thing necessary is better explosions and fire. The rest is fine.

Look. do you want a simulator survival game which calculates hundreds of zombies at the same time without your pc exploding IN REAL TIME and with tons of mods? Or you want like....Metal Gear Survive.

I know my answer.

Zomboid has already gone through a few significant graphics revisions since the game's first release. It didn't even used to be 3D at all. It was a 2.5D isometric game with clever tricks to make it look 3D, but it was really using 2D sprites the whole time. I wouldn't hold your breath on another significant graphics upgrade, but I'm not saying it couldn't happen either. The low-spec graphics do free up your computers resources for handling the games complexity. It may not look like it on the surface, but there is a lot going on under the hood of the game

Everyone makes a good point here. If there would ever be a "high quality graphics" version of this game it would be after this game is truly 'complete' then maybe a successful creations of PZ2 or something.

All it needs is better fire and smoke. And maybe some more animations, otherwise its perfect

Agree, not every game needs ultra realistic graphics. In fact, I wouldn't like this game as much if it looked like GTA.

Go play Dying Light?

They just did a huge graphics update , literally converted most of the game from being 2-D to 3-D and it took them something like 4 years to do. You want them to improve the graphics more and take another 8 years doing that instead of just adding more content to the game?
Quineloe Jan 22, 2022 @ 1:38pm
I'm sorry, are you sure you saw the initial version of the game? Because it looked completely different and much less complex back then.

Having played the living ♥♥♥♥ out of the Sims, I really enjoy the Zombie Sims aesthetic.

I doubt this is on their priority list of things to do... we might get another graphics update when the game is about to leave early access. So give it another 5-10 years xD
