Yeeeee
guess I take soft skin and devote myself to lumberjack to remind that I must not hurt and live in the woods

Technically, though in reality if you're in a situation where you get bit, thick skinned is unlikely to help. Scratches and lacerations happen much more easily. Lunging over fences is an easy way to get them, and thick skinned can be helpful there if you don't have the armor for it. Getting bit is harder, and if you're in the position to be bit you're likely going to have multiple attempts made before you get yourself free. So while it's technically incorrect, I stand by it. It's not a reliable deterrent to bites.

Most of my bites came from a single attack.

Hey, another save and I was spawn further way now but there is still gas station nearby
I trying to turn it into my base and got myself timing wrong when trying to kill zed on my feet before another one got up completely. (i was day dream again) It hit me but it was a scratch and am not infected except the wound itself is infected...yeah I guess I stick with my soft skin if thick skin not gonna work and give me stright bite

I hope I manage to deal with horde that somehow spawn in front of gas station with school backpack dude
there were like 5 zeds there before then i off to loot abit and came back like 80 title away, 2 in game hours and they already become larger horde with like 11 with 1 dude backpack

You can always also go the mod route, and use something called Antibodies. You can still get zombified but you have a chance of fighting off the infection if your character is generally healthy. Usually gas stations are bad spots IMO, since always seem to draw hordes in the area, basically anything urban is a risk if your not prepped. Though depends on the settings I guess, I tend to make my settings have the concentration being in urban areas which makes more sense.

It's best to have a quiet area as a prepping/fall back point, then start taking risks if you really want to secure a gas station, fire station, police station etc etc etc.

What with that?? my claim to bullet proof vest is useless? guess I will fight them naked

Zomboid death mechanics are mostly RNG. With clothes, you have a chance that they'll take a bite on your clothing instead of your flesh, cuts/lacerations have a chance of killing you or not, and so on. For many that does take some of the fun away, especially those who don't like the idea of having their hours long progress at the mercy of a dice roll.

in the end of the day clothing makes those chances of getting hurt more favorable, which naturally lead to less "will i be zombofied now?" rolls

I personally play without infections and multihit, seems to bring the most enjoyment. The only ways of dying are bleeding out or eaten alive, which considering my lack of skill, are fairly often.

If you wanna go mod route but still make it bit hard for yourself.

I might try that and also change that but that might not fun enough so I going to become Left 4 Dead

As an FYI, you can use carpentry to move intact windows to replace broken ones.

If you want to make armor then max tailoring. It takes ages but is way worth it. If you layer your clothing right you can get some really good armor values over your whole character. Long johns are super good for this.

At the moment, zombies have a random chance to just, ignore all protection and deal a bite, you could have 100%+ Protection on the torso, and if the bug occurs, they'll bite clean through it on the first attempt.

It is working on being fixed, if the risk of that is too much for you, then by all means disable bites. I'm wishywashy on it right now.

IMO the infection is not implemented fairly with no way to cure and is a silly mechanic for a sandbox game. Fortunately there are mods that have lootable cures

You could use "Keen Hearing", it helps tremendously and if I play for "real", its an auto-include.
Andy Mil Jan 11, 2022 @ 2:18am
I swap that with eagle eye because I would like to see further but I regret that now I suppose
well, I will play Left 4 Dead now with all them runner

1 in 4 hits will be a bite. A jacket or armor just makes your chances better but IMO it's false security. With Thick Skin you roughly reduce your mortality by half while with Thin Skin you double your mortality. But those are statistics, meanwhile my personal experience is if I get hit I pretty much always get infected.

But what can you do?

1. Start a new game in the same world and hunt down your old character for the gear.
2. Simply turn off transmission in Sandbox settings and don't be afraid to Set up a Left4Dead-style sandbox. Especially, since with multiplayer there will be de-sync or latency issues.
3. Install Antibodies mod if you want to include an immunity build up system (it depends on traits and moodles to determine if you get zombified or not), I love this one, because it may affect which traits you choose and how you stockpile your supplies, you get a sickness debuff and your water consumption goes through the roof.

It's a game, you're supposed to have fun with it.
