What if the helicopter event started when I was in my safehouse and I havent left yet. Should I still leave or stay indoors?

it should leave within an hour or two if it doesn't spot you outside

so for now I should be safe? I read a horde comes so should I leave my base to avoid a headache?

If you hear it overhead then just be prepared for a lot of zombinos when you leave your safehouse.

Personally, I would leave and find a safe spot and then wait to reclaim my stuff.

How can you even tell it's overhead?

There's a difference in sound.
The louder it is, then the closer it is, then it's usually above you.

I never recommend remaining indoors during the helicopter event. Regardless if it has seen you it still flies over your location pulling zombies with it. Although this does have a caveat. If you are already based in the middle of nowhere, then you will likely be fine anyway. But if you are basing within a city, then get the hell out of there as fast as you can.

I recommend finding a working vehicle early on and as soon as you hear the heli get in your car and try to get to a secluded spot avoiding zeds as needed and eventually the heli will just leave and there shouldn't be too much cleanup to do back at home.

I learned the hard way that you do not want to stay indoors when the helicopter comes. Not only does it bring zombies, but they're all riled up and aggressive about breaking everything and into places, even if they don't know you're there. They tend to find you.

What I found works best is get as far as you can from your base ASAP. Keep moving, but run and fight as little as possible to conserve stamina. I'd end up with a gigantic horde behind me, eventually the chopper would go away, I'd run through some forest to lose them all, and head back home.

Search for radios with the emergency broadcast system, wear head/earphones so you can listen to the daily report every morning. If you see "air activity" the event will happen that day,

Now grab a running car, a campfire kit, some fuel and a few beers. Park the car driver side up against a indestructable wall. Now get out and place the kit and some fuel and light the fire. Sit in driver side until event is over and all the zombies are nice and crispy.

Congrats you just cleared out the neighbourhood.

Bruh all the people telling you to run are only half right. As long as you are indoors and upstairs you will never get bothered by zombies as long as they dont see or hear you. If you didnt agro any zombos before heli arrived and you are in a 2 store building then this is best case scenario. Just sit upstairs dont look outside the window and dont make any noise. If you are in single floor house then there is a chance they will come inside especially if you have large horde just outside the window .In that case it might be best to leave how ever if you have at least 4 points of escape (doors & windows) and courtins on windows then i would sit inside until your position is compromised then leg it as soon as they enter

It's a very efficient way to lure script spawned zombie hordes away from key locations like fuel station/ hospital/ police/ fire department, et cetera. Plan carefully then.

That isn't necessarily true either. I have tried the method you're talking about and it didn't go well. I had even removed the stairs, so while yes I was relatively safe, it didn't stop zombies from filling my yard and house making escape much harder than necessary. Yes I got away, but it was at the cost of my base. This is why I recommend leaving. Staying put has never worked out well in my favor.

It depends where you set up your base. If you have safe house in center of west point then of course the area will get very dense but if you have base next to the river heli hardly lures anything in your direction
