I'm sorry but.... what...?
So I made some "Dry Ramen Soup" and it increases thirst. This is a full cooking pot of water with ramen in it. Why does it increase thirst?

well ALL noodles tend to increase thirst. It was such an issue in WWII that Italian soldiers need more water while stationed in North Africa... True story.

This is over a gallon of water with a pack of ramen noodles in it. Reduce the amount of water it gives sure but there is no way that should increase thirst, that's just dumb.

Ramen do be salty, yo.
Coffee has water in it. But if you were to only drink it instead of actual water then you would get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

It might not be healthy but you would never die of dehydration from it.

I don't think you have any idea how hydration (or the lack thereof) actually works. I don't want you to die on a desert island, so... don't drink the salt water.

A pack of ramen noodles in a gallon of water should not be giving you negative hydration, theres not that much salt in it...

Lets use a LITTLE bit of logic here... would you make one packet of Ramen Noodles with a gallon of water? No, probably not. Forgive the game for not forcing you to make it with a bowl of water like it really works. Take a drink from the sink, this isn't worth complaining about. Salty foods dehydrate you.

I had a cooking pot, I was going to make soup, I added the ramen to it. I didn't expect it to suddenly give a massive negative to thirst after.

This is after water cut off, rain water collection is not working on multiplayer servers and there are no natural water sources nearby so the water was kind of a big deal.

I mean I will know to be careful in future but you have to admit that's kind of dumb.

I actually basically only drink coffee on my work days during the week.

Even if you use no water in your coffee, Milk is still 87% Water so long as you drink enough you'll be good and so long as you don't go over 400 mg of caffeine in 24 hours you should be right.

For example, sea water contains 3.5% salt in it. A dry cup Ramen contains 2% salt in it. So it's very salty. Regarding the amount of water, if you cook dry Ramen with a full of cooking pot of water, it's not tasty at all. The item has happiness buff so I think they arrange the amount of water.
it's a gabe Dec 14, 2021 @ 6:56am
Personally, I don't even get fruit *reducing* thirst in this game. irl nothing but water can quench my thirst. I don't care what sort of liquid it is, only water makes me feel satisfied.

That said, I get why any food would make you thirsty in PZ, and ramen in particular has never been thirst-quenching despite having tons of water.

We will certainly continue to examine and balance the cooking system as we continue development. As you can probably imagine, with such an extensive cooking system strange little quirks appearing with certain combinations of items under certain conditions yielding unexpected outcomes compared with reality are bound to rear their heads. There are similar issues with certain foods being able to be eaten from pots and others requiring to be served in bowls.

High salt content would make you thirsty

Yeah, I was not overly annoyed at all it just surprised me. Wasted the whole pot of water because I had not expected it to go negative thirst. It's not a big deal, just something to keep in mind in future especially when water is hard to come by.

And if you put a dry cup of ramen in a gallon of water it will be significantly less than 2% salt. That's the whole point. I am not saying putting something salty in water would not reduce the hydration from said water, but a pack of ramen in a gallon of water is not adding so much salt to it that it would become a huge negative.
