I can't survive :( (Apocalypse difficulty)
Ok to be fair i survived a couple of times and on one of my character made it to abandoned cabin in the woods. But then I needed supplies so I went back to the city but ended up in an endless run from zombies (left my car in a safehouse closer to the city) Eventually I got exhausted, bitten. - I managed to get back to safehouse and died there. So all my supplies still there. But no new character ( and I tried 4 already) can even make it to the safehouse. They end up spawning on the other side of the city and zombies just run them down till they die.

Basically every time I got killed was due to exhaustion.

If you were bitten, you likely diesel to the zombie virus, not exhaustion. Keep trying, don't give up! Figure out how to survive longer is part of the fun!

Make your way through slowly and methodically. It might take time (sometimes several days). After a fight against a bunch of zombies, don't hesitate to go find a chair/bed and rest, even if you aren't exhausted yet (quickest way to recover is to rest, then sit down). Always have an area you've cleared behind you, it'll help when you're getting surrounded and need to lose the horde by going around/through building, without attracting more zombies.

Hardest part of Apocalypse always seems to be getting away from zombies by walking into even more zombies. And then getting away from those by walking into even more zombies. And then sightblock them by cutting through some trees into the zombies standing on the other side. And then ducking into a house to find more zombies waiting in there. And then jumping out the back window and getting spotted by still more zombies....

My only solution was to go sandbox and cut the starting population to a reasonable amount.

How do they manage to run you down? Default apocalypse zeds do not run and you just can walk away, they can never touch you by walking straight forward.

Loosing zombies is one the key skills you need to aquire as a new player. Learning how the zombie AI works is essential for that. And for that I can always refer to this video:

If you want to clear out something without combat just shout a bit, walk around in circles until they all follow you and then loose them in the woods or somewhere else.

Don't run (alt key), if anything jog with shift but even your normal walking speed will outrun fast shamblers. Try to actually make a strong character that can kill zeds and clear areas instead of trying to just run away. And don't go far away without a car.

Basically the problem is just there is too many zombies - groups of 7-13 zombies spread out evenly aproximately 10-20 meters away from each other across the city. No matter how many groups I lose regardless if I am running or sneaking I keep running into more and more groups of 7-13. And if anything the only exception to this rule - is sometimes there would be hordes of 30+ zombies defending warehouses - so I can't loot any decent weapon as all warehouses in my save are completely overrun by hordes.

If I am driving the car I can escape but if I stop the car I can barely get back to the car because my car is usually chased by 20 zombies by that point (At any location within reasonable distance from looting run targets.) and if I do anything outside my car 20 zombies become 30-40-50 and the longer I stay in the area the more overrun it gets. It got to the point that I decided to go without a car but then zombies actually just ran me down until I got exhausted and died.

So the solution I came up with - just make a character with 10 fitness. IT WORKS GREAT! I can run away forever now! :)

I was actually playing "Overweight". I guess I should have asked "how to survive with "Overweight" trait on apocalypse in the early game"

yeah that actually works but I don't wanna spend days and days just to get 3-4 books.

Yeah I don't think that's possible - pretty much all areas in my save are protected by hordes and all I have is a half-broken wrench as a weapon.

Pretty much! I will try with 10 fitness character. I love how it plays so far.

I think its because I have overweight trait. I get high exhaustion after killing 2-3 zombies and running a bit.

U gotto walk alot if u know u weak and dont run alot
but if ya wanna fight
if ya not confidence then Try to go for 1v1 as much as possible
Larus Jan 20, 2022 @ 7:45am
There's an easy solution, just don't fight or run if you want to escape zombies then :D

Walking is seriously all you need. You walk faster than zombies.

It's mainly the issue of that getting away from zombie group A results in aggroing zombie group B. And then repeat to infinity.

Walking is all well and good, but you do have to stop and sleep eventually. In order for that to work, you have to Both walk away from the zombies And not aggro new ones.

That's why I posted that video to explains how to get rid of them ;)

Maybe fat character is not for you at the moment. Try picking less painful traits for a good start

That is Apocalypse mode. It does say in its description. "Short life span". I think zombies re-spawn way more in apocalypse scenario. I'm trying to get to book store. coupled with eating more and needing more sleep (in my opinion I maybe wrong) I had to abandon for now. I set hem all fire and more had spawned, had to go get some sleep only to come back a few days later and find them still on fire and had to start all over again
VANGUARD Jan 20, 2022 @ 8:43am
I'm still a new player myself and I generally avoid getting spotted by large groups but theoretically you can just make a full circle around a block and then try to lose the zombies.
Since they were following you previously an area without zombies around should have opened up.

You clearly didn't google hard enough

My personal #1 problem with this game is that it doesn't differentiate between client only QoL mods like this and mods that actually change the world and gameplay.

i.e. you can't join a server with this mod unless the server is running this mod. Even though it wouldn't have any effect on the server, you just can't run it.

In the current meta, overweight isn't even considered a difficult negative trait, it is a plain bad trait because the opposite neg trait underweight is the same amount of points for considerably less of a disadvantage.

You should simply not pick it. Especially in a day1 start, underweight is gone after two days of gorging on ice cream, chips and cake. I'd even say it's easier to lose Very underweight than simple overweight.
