Place items on tables?

How do I place stuff like weapons or food items on tables or other surfaces to decorate my base like on some pictures?

There is apparantly a new right click option with place item. Right click on your item and select place and you should be able to place them on the table.

Mouse over in inventory gives a place item option for all items. This lets you set up a table with items ontop and stuff multiple items on same tile. Isometry can be a lil confusing at first make sure the appropriate cell is highlighted

Would be cool if items could spawn on counters and tables etc as if placed realistically. That would add a lot of nice details.

It happens on specific events such as the cake preparation event

They already do actually. I was checking a house for the clothes i removed from zeds...only to notice some stuff i did not see on the ground, and there was a table nearby is how i discovered it;)

This does happen whenever there is a random event spawn, such as the remnants of a party, apocalypse survivors, etc. I just looted a house that was boarded up and there were shotguns, nails, hammers, all set up very nicely on the tables.

I'm supposing this isn't possible with a controller? Can't seem to figure out placement controls with a controller, but Quitting the game and reloading in with a Mouse seems to work just fine. Every time I want to decorate it's something I have to do unless someone has any tips

On the left side of your screen their is a pickup/place icon click that and it should give you some options. Same way you move furniture around.
