Project Zomboid

Cowardly Trait
I am coming to talk about this trait, I believe it is very broken. After all: he gives only 2 more points and the consequence is to miss practically all the shots with firearms.

I thought that for only 2 points, the character would get rid of that trait at some point (like Eugene Porter from The Walking Dead hehehe). But no, I have been in the current savegame for 3 months, I killed more than 2 thousand zombies and I cannot use firearms because he panics at all times... :Sadclot:

there's a lot of bad or pointless traits in the game, which should reward more points (or cost less) tbh

p.s. just don't pick it next time or read wiki info

Firearms aren't very practical, and if you ever have to do so, make sure to take beta blocker before.

After 3 monthes of survival, you should panic way less than at the start. Unless you have a bunch of zombies in front of you, or if you turn your back on them a lot, you shouldn't have that much issue with panic, even with the cowardly trait.

If you don't have at least 2-3 skills point in aiming, you will miss most of your shot regardless your panic if you're using something else than shotguns.

I think 2 points is Ok. Max cost is 3. but 2 is good too.
Cowardly is for MP gameplay, or if there are few zombies in the world, or if you really good in PZ, or if you not going to use firearms and have some melee weapons skills at the start.

The best combo is Pacifist and Brave.
" I don't like violence.. - ♥♥♥♥♥ the Baseball Bat - But I'll bash your brains in. " :steammocking:

Some traits are just like that ^^

Use the gun to distract zombie. That's the only reason I use guns.

EDIT: Steam censored the word and I understand why.
But let's say "Rack the Baseball Bat" instead, heh.

Cowardly (+100% chance of becoming Panicked) pair it with with adrenaline junkie...will give you a buff to run speed of "+10% move speed when at maximum panic with no fractures or deep wounds" use that to your advantage for flight situations. This will let you get away from a horde easier. A cowardly play style should be flight, not fight.

If your coward decides to stand his ground, you need to have a supply of beta blockers or a different tactic to take on zombies. Guns not being one of them. Try leveling up your sneak and use the new(ish) sneak "psst" q key to try and separate a few from the pack.

A coward by nature will choose not to fight. Flight is the thing he wants to do.

I do believe your coward trait might become less and less over time. Try to see what it is like in one year with 25,000 killed. Still panic, because you are a coward but possibly less so.

You will need beta blockers on you at all times and eat them like candy. Yummers.
hehe I took it just to not use a firearm, but today I have a stock of them, full of ammunition and I want to go somewhere to play, but it doesn't work kkkk, seriously, the panic decreases with time even with cowards, but if you have 2 / 3 zombies, get extreme on time.

In the long run it bothers a lot, it should be a feature that rewards you most, like 3 ~ 4 points, because it’s a feature that you will practically NEVER kill zombies with shots :Sadclot::Sadclot:

In long term panic gets dramatically decreased. The trait forces you to constantly use beta blockers in the first few months. Even the adrenaline junkie becomes pretty useless on the long term. But hey, most runs aren't long term XD

I actually found Cowardly to be pretty playable. Agoraphobia was a restart when I realized it was 100% extreme panic at all times while outside even in a car.

I was more annoyed at the constant heartbeat than the actual panic debuff.

You may know this already, but individual sound levels can be raised or lowered in the settings sounds tab.

I like the heartbeat effect for being scared, I just got tired of hearing it the whole time I was outside on that character. I just don't use the trait anymore.

Understood.
Really, I caught the claustrophobic thinking that it would be like this only inside the house, but if you leave a house, it takes a while to decrease the extreme panic, and it bothers a lot
Yes, I think the way is to try to kill some 10,000 zombies until he gets used to it, but if you shoot, many zombies will come, then it won't do much good

You don't get a panic's decrease buff depending of how many zombies you killed, but rather on how long you've survived. Every month of in-game survival for your character, you'll get a buff. I recently got a character to 1 month of survival (playing with the cowardly trait as well), and felt the difference when I reached that (I could finally fight 3 zombies at a time without getting totally paniced).
Wow, I didn't know that, I thought it changed as we faced the zombies. So if it's time, it makes more sense, the way is to wait for time to pass haha, thanks my friend! :LIS_pixel_heart:
