Car hoods?
So, is there any way to repair them considering that they break down quite fast.

Drive slower.

You'll need to have found Laine's auto magazine for the appropriate car type(standard, heavy-duty, sport), or have Mechanic as your starting profession.

Amateur Mechanic trait/hobby works too, but only for standard type vehicles.

After that, you'll need a Wrench to remove the hood, and then Metalworking 3 or mechanics 3(or 5) to repair the hood. Alternatively, you can go around and take a Hood from another vehicle of the same type, and use that in place of your broken one.

Just drive slower, hit the brakes as you come toward a turn.

I just dont bother at all with the hood and have accepted that all my cars will end up with hood / windshield / frontlights at 0%

It doesnt seem to matter at all in game...

hi, what's the point of car's hoods now? Does anybody know? Do hoods affect anything in the game? Is there any mechanics with hoods? Why should I keep it safe and repaired?

The Hood of a car protects its engine. If your hood is broken, and you keep slamming zombies, it will quickly reduce your engine to 0%, rendering the car unusable until the engine is repaired.

so it only protects Engine while slamming zombies?

Do they protect the engine if say i ran into a tree at 60 mph

Nope.

Yes. But sometimes even like that your engine can sustain damage. The more damaged the hood is the more likely it is your engine also suffers damage when you hit something. Other car, zombie, wall, survivor, tree, whatever.

Without a hood, you take damage on every zombie you hit.
WIth the hood if you see the car overlay flashing you are taking engine damage.

But the knocks of running over zombies usually just effect the hood. If you are driving at slow pace trying to swerve them.
