I'd argue an in-game UI-map would do the game a disservice, removing a vital aspect of gameplay.
And personally I think it's charming having a survival game with a map that doesn't show you exactly where you are, you need to find maps for your area, and look for landmarks to identify your position. It's nice.
For me learning where everything is, is too tedious and boring. The map is crazy big- not everyone has hours spare to put into endeavours like this. With games like 7 Days to Die, Rust, it should be very intuitive and easy to play. This game is far from pick up and play, and not knowing where you adds further on the complexity.
Imo a map is one area the developers could really add value with this game, that, by all accounts should be out of early access by now.
Just my subjective opinion tho.
so far using my I phone to look at the official PZ map just to help me loot and explore new places to loot.
Kinda shocked they have not done a DLC some some sort to keep some money come in to it. Maybe once (WAY down the road) when NPCs are in they could add in a large chunk of the map, some kind of story pack? (stellaris style) and a pack of new monsters? eh ... eh??
Check this out i think its exactly what you are looking for.
This is all you need man. You can zoom in, zoom out, mark every location you've looted and name each location whatever you want. And as you approach cars, they'll appear on the map in your immediate location. You can also toggle the map to move with you in real time or make it translucent so it's not blocking your view.
The best part is the author said he is going to keep improving it.
