Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Who does not play this game because there are no NPCs?
Ok remake lol. I am someone who feels PZ lacks that certain something without NPCs and find it hard to enjoy. Even basic npcs made the game more interesting to me. Seeing someone in the house across the street getting seiged from all the zombies and not you is always a blast to see or even some one just getting chased down and mauled. It defenatly breaks the periods of boredness of hiding from zeds since you're not the sole desired meal. I know theres multiplayer but that means i have to deal with things like lag and the cruel evilness of real people. I did see a mod called survivers that adds npcs so im going to try the game again. :steamhappy:

Focusing on topic here...

I can see the viewpoint, other non zombified characters roaming the world adds a significant change to everything, because it would be best to assume they are intelligent enough to break into your home, hunt you down, and burn your base to ashes.

As far as im concerned, the moment they add NPCs to the game is the day i play this game exclusively multiplayer, and me and all my friends are going to huddle into our own little corner as we try our best not to get mauled by every other living thing in the world.

And uh... guns will finally have a proper use, since they aint worth much against zombies.
I could care less. Multiplayer is my forte.

I guess for the anti multiplayer crowd it would make it fun.

I'm not sure if I'd play with the npcs, I prefer surviving alone me against the hordes. I guess I'll give them a shot when they're in and after awhile with the bug fixes etc, still they're in no way hindering my enjoyment of the game.

I bought the game back in 2013 because it looked like the true zombie survival I was looking for. Honestly went in blind, had no knowledge of the NPCs prior, and, based on my (very much enjoyed) hours, I'd say I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Same here.

I bought it when it was Project zomboid, not Project NPC's.

How can anyone NOT play because there isnt NPC's in a zombie based game ? Im new to this conversation/topic but whats the big deal ? Is there a video somewhere showing the game being 100x better with NPC's that i havent seen you ?

7 days to die just got 1 NPC, a trader and ive got 1700 hours in that game, 1650 b4 i even knew an NPC was even going to be added.

How does a few ? NPC's make so much of a difference in a great game about zombies ?

I haven't played in months and will not play again until NPCs are out. There simply isn't enough in the weekly updates to interest me and until the devs fulfill their age old promises I won't be interested in the game.
I don't give a fudge about NPCs as long as i can disable them, im a lone wolf and i want it to remain this way. I also dont like liability and npcs will surely be a liability, if i want a company i'll go for multiplayer.

When you say " age old promises "............. im new so excuse me but could you link me to these " age old promises " ?

If it is simply a feature they announced as something to be added in the future thats hardly anything to call a promise. The future is subjective. Yours might be tommorow and theirs is likely closer to fianl release of the game.

In all cases their definition of the word trumps yours, and if you make unrealistic definitions up they cant hardly be held responsible for that. Your entitled to play when you find the game intresting of course but when they decide the NPC's are ready is entirely up to them : )

Out of curiousity what will the NPC's bring to the game that is currently missing in your opinion ?

I am wholeheartedly anti-multiplayer, but I also don't care about NPCs.

Honestly, I'm of the mind that if it's going to be done wrong, it shouldn't be done at all. I saw their earlier versions of survivors, and (not ♥♥♥♥ talking the devs here either - they're surely better than myself) it was done wrong. They just sort of seemed to exist and served to end a run when they would inevitably fly off the handle.

Not that I'm against NPCs. Quite the opposite, in fact. I'm certain that done well, they could (along with the zombies) be a core aspect of the game, but again, done WELL.

Don't really care for npcs that much.
More worried that they didn't drop a single word on animations this Monday :/

They did?

"Work on the anims/combat build continues, and we’re still tying the new system into Zomboid’s multiplayer contingent. The new state machine stuff is quite a major shift in the game code, and MP is used to dealing with the old version so the dev wheel’s still (still) turning on that front."

I think that people waiting for npc rarely visit steam discussions. At least the majority

This is one of the reasons they're taking so long. And other game engine components proving vital to the fully functional AI.

I am waiting for npc's. Multiplayer as fun as it is...sucks ass when you die to lag. Single player experience is just downright boring after awhile. I have not played the game in a very long time, every time I look at updates it's some ramblings about radios or animations, never seem to be any real content :(.
