for real running around the rooms like a lost puppy looking for the bird or right symbol is not fun
Still not as bad as the second one. All three encounters are awful. They designed the quest to make you go back multiple times because most people wouldn't want to go there more than once. This Dungeon is indicative of one of the reasons this game cannot gain and retain new Players.

Who doesn't want more tedious puzzles in their fps right?

Do people really hate this encounter? There's a lot of fun variance in the lighting patterns and how you can optimize the amount of lenses used in certain ways. It has a lot of room to improve and learn and I find that really interesting.

One trick to go faster is if you're on Hunter, you can use the truesight from Stylish Executioner to scan rooms for the Grim.

its not shooting at something for 15 minutes straight and you need to put a little bit of brain power into it so its automatically bad
I wouldn't say it's unintuitive, it's pretty clear what you need to do. You walk into the room, see the lenses, interact with one and they all shine on the wheel above the door with the symbols. the lenses beam light onto the symbols and they disappear, encounter begins. Immediately you know it's something to do with getting symbols a and shining light. You'll quickly find that the subjugators drop lenses and there are 4 rooms with symbols on the walls. Killing the Truthspeaker special enemy creates a floating symbols.

it's really not difficult to figure out. If I have any complaint about this encounter, it's that it's a bit of a slog to solo as you can't send your team off to gather lenses and locate symbols.

Other than the third phase of the encounter, 1st encounter uses the same prophecies that are the true ones from the third encounter, so if you see whats up on the main dais in the center, you can deduce what you need to light without even looking for the grim in the first place. Second phase can be a little harder to do so, but still it can save time to deduce what the answer will be before you even enter any rooms.

I do, I agree the run around in this specific example is bad but the puzzles and mechanics are was separate Destiny from the rest and I enjoy it. If I want to turn my brain off I play strikes.

i know the mechanics but the execution is terrible, not only you have to constantly kill adds and subjugators, then find out the order of symbol, search and remember which room got which symbol, then figure out the light path in order, which your teammate can sabotage your lens rotation, it's just a completely disaster

That's why you either yell on VC to let you line it up or do it solo. For Subjagators, the Queensbreaker single-shot version blinds them, or on Titan you can use Peregrine greaves to 1-shot them.

Why would you want to shoot enemies in a shooter game? This is Destiny 2. We now play Pogs to open doors and do DPS
simple, u just a noob player or crayon eater
