I understand. The game can get overwhelming when it throws story content at you seemingly out of order after logging in after an absence.

So the current campaign is Witch Queen with Lightfall coming out in February 2023.

The current seasonal content is Season of the Plunder, Season 18. It is a pirate themed season that involves tracking Eramis' pirate crew, defeating them, and reclaiming the artifacts of Nezarec, former Disciple of the Witness.

The main quest areas are found at the Helm. The Star Chart with upgrades, rewards, and bounties can be found in the Helm. Eliksni quarters, Ketchcrash, Expedition can be found on the map for the Helm. Upon completing an Expedition and digging up treasure, a new mission unlocks where you can invade a pirate lair and reclaim an artifact.

The goal is to collect map fragments and treasure coordinates from playing Ketchcrash and other activities within the game.

When you have enough, you can assemble a map in your Captain's Atlas in the quest menu. Just tap the preview button to customize it.

From there you can complete an Expedition where you collect loot, escort the payload, kill a miniboss, and dig up buried treasure.

After that, a new mission will unlock where you kill a pirate lord and reclaim an artifact. Return to the Eliksni quarters for story progression and place the relic on the table across from the Star Chart in the Helm.

Rinse and Repeat.

Thx, it's all way better now.
Quick question. Is the Witch Queen only for the story or do we get some dungeon/raids(not sure if they exist in this game)
Like is it worth it to buy it now? After I am like.. Aight game is cool
Like there are a lot of dlcs and was wondering if they give you something other than story/campaign.

And also.. the season(which I think is related with the season pass). Is it the free content we receive now and then with the next campaign being the story and so on?

The chest in H.E.L.M. can provide 1540 lvl gear for new/returning players.

You can read specifics on store pages or https://www.bungie.net/
If you need all available content, you should buy WQ Deluxe + Legacy Collection + 30th.

In terms of relevance it's WQ Deluxe > WQ > Legacy > BL > SK/Forsaken > 30th

All DLC grant access to several exotics that you can buy, earn or farm, depending on the exotic. Check The Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower for weapons and google Legendary Lost Sector Exotics for armor. https://www.light.gg/ might help too.

Only Forsaken and 30th don't have campaigns.

There're 2 F2P raids and 1 dungeon.

30th includes a dungeon (where you get Gjallarhorn) and a bunch of cosmetics.

Forsaken and SK include a dungeon and a raid each,

BL includes Stasis subclass and a raid.

WQ includes a raid and full access to crafting system.

WQ Deluxe includes 2 dungeons, one is available and the other will be released in December, as well as S16-19 season passes. S19 starts on Dec, 6. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/Seasons

Previous seasonal content is available until the next DLC release, except for previous reward tracks (like battle pass) and seasonal challenges (EXP and Bright Dust source). You can grab season pass exotics from previous seasons with this as long as you own deluxe for the corresponding DLC.

That was The Farm. It was a secondary city (or social hub) intended to be used during the portion of The Red War where the Tower and the main city were inaccessible.

The Farm was vaulted (removed) when Beyond Light was released.

There are three automatic missions.

The first is only for new players, that one is New Light: A Guardian Rises! It's done on Earth in the Cosmodrome area. It's meant to teach new players how the Bounty system works and how Public Events work.

The second is the one you saw on Mars (with Ikora Ray and Eris Morn) that one is the intro to Witch Queen (everyone has access to the first mission). It's meant as a teaser for the Witch Queen campaign and it also unlocks the weapon crafting relic.

The third is the intro to whatever season we're currently having (S18 in this case: Season of Plunder. You'll have to help the Drifter rescue Spider and then together with Misraaks and his daughter Eido, the 4 of you will plan to be Pirates ... for ... good). That's meant as the intro to the current season and it gives you the Seasonal Artifact (which is the source of all the Champion mods, everyone needs those).

Yes, it's confusing for new players. But it was actually worse before those missions started automatically.

I'm in the same spot as OP. I was thrown into these quest without context. It is fun to shoot things, but I did not like Witch Queen because it was very long and I fail at jumping. A small introduction on how to jump long would be good. The new player experience is not so good, feels like a mess. As a free to play player, what do you do after this? Is there a story? Or some way to fel progression? I did find the chest in H.E.L.M. so now we start at 1540? Where do i go from there?

Well, yes, there is a story (or more to the point "there are stories") but you won't see most of those unless you buy some of the DLCs. The stories are, for the most part, all behind the paywalls.

If you want to know what's available, then Mez Koo has an excellent guide on the subject, you can find that here:

Was like this a few weeks ago when I returned, was raging at the platforming struggling to jump up to high things (Like could not make the jump up to the chandelier thing in the first WQ mission lol) then I figured that you just need to hold the jump key down.
Now I'm mostly ok with the platforming & enjoy it though have some fails often after switching character as they have different jumps.
