But regardless as Megumin's Husband said they run sales all the time and a new player right now can get all purchasable dlc for only $45. Why would Bungie or Sony want people to just hit and run the game for $15?
No it isn't. Paying a one time fee for the expansion and any other content is always cheaper than constantly paying monthly fees which could increase over time.
Get someone in for free and have them pay a few bucks per DLC to play on and off is waaaay better than needing to constantly pay if you want to keep access. You know, despite being an MMO, it's nice to be able to take a break and come back without being welcomed by a paywall to log in.
Maybe they could add an alternative where you pay a fee to get full DLC access, but not require subs for old customers.
