Unpopular opinion about quest timers
Adding timers to quests only promotes zerging and agressive-only playstyles. A strict timer is the absolute easiest and cheapest way to raise the difficulty by a very large factor. Some players like timers because agressive is their goto playstyle. I personally cant appreciate timers, they feel like dictating too much how I should play, how I should build my character, and how I should take breaks from the keyboard, it reduces the experience to some predefined protocol, it kind of goes in direct opposition to the idea of open world games.

Deeper into S15 and in S16 this trend only got worse, it is more stressful and punishes intelligent play, more aggression, more zerging, more bruteforce will help to succeed much easier. The instance mutators + gear lock significantly reduce viable loadouts and subclasses, but still allow for a varied, interesting and tactical/strategy gameplay without the timers.

I understand this is primarily a console-first game with gamepad controls, so the button mashing experience is probably a little different, also the game sessions are imagined by devs to be different, more isolated perhaps. So, i guess tough luck with these, like with most end game stuff.

Just another /rant, thanks for reading. xd

I don't really play any part of Destiny that is timer based other than if it is unavoidable in normal gameplay, but, I agree completely.
I hate all time based scenarios in games. They are just artificially induced tension and stress builders to increase difficulty with no imaginative effort made on the designers part.
Anytime a countdown starts up in a game I pretty much switch off in my head and start to lose interest in that game.
I assume you're talking about the Vox Obscura mission..? That's the only one I can think of recently that boasted a timer that was even somewhat relevant, and even then, barely.

I have not attempted it on Master difficulty yet, but you didn't specify such, so I will just go on the basis that you're talking about the normal difficulty.

Bro, it's piss easy. The tank section is a snoozer since it gives you a vehicle that can 2-3 shot everything. I only failed it once because I didn't even realized it was on a timer. The second part is arguably easier since they give you TOO MUCH time. I was completing the boss with 3-4 minutes to spare, if I recall correctly. Devour makes one-against-all missions like these incredibly easy (all classes can use devour now btw), since you just mow through red-healths and become an unkillable monster so long as you have bullets in your gun.

If you aren't talking about Vox Obscura, ignore the entire post.

Yeah, not too fond of timers either.

Everything seems to have a timer in this expansion. Oh, you've Deepsight! But only for 15 seconds! Hope you can make this complicated series of jumps in low light conditions before the timer runs out!

The new Raid also has a timer on the third encounter.

Vox Obscura is the first timed mission we've gotten in a very long time as far as I'm remembering. The last notable timed missions I remember were zero hour from 3 years ago and whisper of the worm even further back. Last year's exo challenge, harbinger, presage, expunge, and shattered realm were not timed.

I will agree that the timer on Vox Obscura is annoying and punishes you for being solo or under leveled but the easy solution to that is to find other players through Bungie website/app or a community discord and be at the powerful cap.

Master Presage was timed and Expunge had time based seasonal challenges but I suppose you don't really lose much if you just do the normal versions. I kinda wish they'd done something similar with Vox though as that 5 minute timer on the first part is too challenging/annoying for a normal mission.

To be fair, the only point to running Master Presage was to ultimately get DMT's catalyst, and that emblem too if you wanted it. After that, it was more for bragging rights than anything.

Are you sure that isn't some weird vsync or fps limit issue? Constant 40 fps seems rather specific.

The new Raid also has a timer on the third encounter.
Every Encounter of the Raid has a timer. It's just not really on the screen.
The first encounter has the obelisks that fill over time and wipe you.
The second encounter has more obelisks and the Caretaker who slowly approaches them.
The third encounter has the obvious timer on the screen.
The fourth encounter has an indirect timer, because you only have 3 DPS phases until the boss enrages.

I doubt the OP was talking about raid timers but for the v sake of argument raids wouldn't be raids without enrage or wipe mechanics. They'd just be 6 person dungeons at that point.
