Hive!!!! Bring a Sword!
In Gambit, how critical is this advice?
Does Hive take extra damage from Sword attacks there? Is it all mobs or just the champions, or even the Primevil?

Is there any other damage modifiers for the Vex/Cabal/Fallen?

Lol no its just a joke because hive follow the sword logic which in our terms would be extreme survival of the fittest.
Plus a lot of them tend to get close, so smacking them with a chunk of metal is a better idea than firing small pieces of metal. :P

Ok thanks. I was just checking out some of my games past, and it seems im critically low on boss dmg most of the fights. I use a Taipan 4FR with boss spec modifier. From my view I get about 10 shots in, of which im gonna get slightly below half in the face, about 20% total miss and the rest bodyshots. That is during the final burn, I don't use the Taipan in the earlier rounds, and then I just shoot with my AR. I get about 10K dmg in on the boss on average, while others get above 40K. Maybe it is inherent to being a titan class, I dont know. Any advice?

I am very inexperienced with Swords. I have falling guillotine and honor's edge. I have used Glaives before, but their dmg seems somewhat underwhelming. I also have some Arc swords (half truths) , but I am just happy with the Void playstyle and would like to stick to it.

I think what I want to say is: what sword ( or glaive if that is even an option at all ) would you recommend for a void sentinel.

The Thralls are melee attackers. A right-click (heavy) sword swing wipes them all out.

If you can't hit crits with an LFR, I'd recommend a rocket launcher with innate tracking (precision frame), or any rocket launcher with the tracking module perk. A breech-loaded GL or fusion rifle is also good to have when you're running low/are out of heavy for emergency DPS.

The element of the sword you use for DPS doesn't really matter. Vortex frames like Falling Guillotine are better than Adaptives like Half Truths though. If you have a Guillotine with Relentless Strikes+Whirlwind Blade, that's what you ideally want for DPS. A decent Half Truths, Other Half, etc are ok though. And if you have The Lament, it's probably still better DPS-wise than any legendary sword.

Lament goes brrrrr.
Usually deals 51+% of all damage to primevil.

For Legendary options these are all fairly easily obtained and great choices;

Solar, Abide the Return - Blind Well
Arc, Half Truths - Dares
Void, The Other Half - Dares
Stasis, Zephyr - Current Dawning Event

For exotics,

Lament all the way.

Elements also do matter, I run cold steel on Zephyr with Stasis, the thing procs, freezes the boss for a good couple seconds and (when combined with the right aspect) spreads an aoe freeze. Highly recommend trying it out.

PERSONALLY, i love glaives, and i've used them alot - but you shouldn't bring them for boss damage. They're much more helpful as utility/ad clearing weapons. (sole exception is hunter exotic glaive, whose charged shot chunks big guys)
If you've unlocked the exotic glaive 'edge of action' for your titan, it is one of the best utility weapons for a void sentinel. the charged shot that creates a mini-bubble is extremely handy, and if you set it up correctly you can use it to tank boss attacks while using a sword for damage.
'rank and file' weapon mod + 'harmonic orb-maker' (or whatevs) as helmet mod lets you chain generate orbs of light while controlling ads. More impactful for strikes/nightfalls/etc but can still be handy for gambit and PvE activities overall.

if you dont have that exotic glaive, levelling up your crafted 'enigma' glaive with the same weapon and helmet mods will give you same orb generating power but with less utility.

overall, boss damage you would be better off with a sword, ad clearing for glaives, BUT you can use both - thats what i did! good luck with everything anyway :alhappy:

Hats off to you sir,

I also like to do this from time to time, especially on void with Echo of Leeching, Enigma and The Other Half.

Going almost full melee is a fun change up in play style compared to the normal run n gun, but it's certainly not for the faint of heart.

Vortex is probably a bit worse than Adaptive after changes. They have the same Light attack speed and damage, Vortex does ~10% more damage on Heavy attacks, but costs 6 vs 4 ammo and you do 1 less L attack during combo because of vortex recovery animation.

When you stack WB Vortex wins by ~10% due to heavy attack damage, but when WB is stacked or you don't use it, H->L x8->H vortex combo does ~6% less damage than H->L x9->H adaptive combo, consumes 1* more ammo, but takes ~0.1s less time, because that extra L attack delays the second Heavy attack.

*3 more, because two H attacks, not one

Interesting, thanks for the info! I haven't kept up with most of the recent buffs/nerfs to swords. I do prefer to use the crafted Other Half with Eager Edge/Vorpal for any sword business just for the utility of it, and Lament if I want more damage or anti barrier. So my Guillotine has been gathering dust anyway.

Right I forgot to bind Light Attack to a key, swords seems a bit more usefull now when im OOM and don't want to reload at that specific moment. The one time I tested (falling guillotine) on the Premevil the dmg didnt seem as good as the Taipan still, I was spamming Heavy attack as I hadnt find out about light attack at that moment.

I might give it a few tries and then let other people invade, as the Taipan is my go-to weapon for invasions, trying to pick off some people at range before going in.

(I want a Void Sword because I use the aspect that makes targets taking fatal void dmg explode)
