The element of the sword you use for DPS doesn't really matter. Vortex frames like Falling Guillotine are better than Adaptives like Half Truths though. If you have a Guillotine with Relentless Strikes+Whirlwind Blade, that's what you ideally want for DPS. A decent Half Truths, Other Half, etc are ok though. And if you have The Lament, it's probably still better DPS-wise than any legendary sword.
Usually deals 51+% of all damage to primevil.
Solar, Abide the Return - Blind Well
Arc, Half Truths - Dares
Void, The Other Half - Dares
Stasis, Zephyr - Current Dawning Event
For exotics,
Lament all the way.
Elements also do matter, I run cold steel on Zephyr with Stasis, the thing procs, freezes the boss for a good couple seconds and (when combined with the right aspect) spreads an aoe freeze. Highly recommend trying it out.
PERSONALLY, i love glaives, and i've used them alot - but you shouldn't bring them for boss damage. They're much more helpful as utility/ad clearing weapons. (sole exception is hunter exotic glaive, whose charged shot chunks big guys)
If you've unlocked the exotic glaive 'edge of action' for your titan, it is one of the best utility weapons for a void sentinel. the charged shot that creates a mini-bubble is extremely handy, and if you set it up correctly you can use it to tank boss attacks while using a sword for damage.
'rank and file' weapon mod + 'harmonic orb-maker' (or whatevs) as helmet mod lets you chain generate orbs of light while controlling ads. More impactful for strikes/nightfalls/etc but can still be handy for gambit and PvE activities overall.
if you dont have that exotic glaive, levelling up your crafted 'enigma' glaive with the same weapon and helmet mods will give you same orb generating power but with less utility.
overall, boss damage you would be better off with a sword, ad clearing for glaives, BUT you can use both - thats what i did! good luck with everything anyway
Hats off to you sir,
I also like to do this from time to time, especially on void with Echo of Leeching, Enigma and The Other Half.
Going almost full melee is a fun change up in play style compared to the normal run n gun, but it's certainly not for the faint of heart.
When you stack WB Vortex wins by ~10% due to heavy attack damage, but when WB is stacked or you don't use it, H->L x8->H vortex combo does ~6% less damage than H->L x9->H adaptive combo, consumes 1* more ammo, but takes ~0.1s less time, because that extra L attack delays the second Heavy attack.
*3 more, because two H attacks, not one
I might give it a few tries and then let other people invade, as the Taipan is my go-to weapon for invasions, trying to pick off some people at range before going in.
