Is it me, or is Destiny 2 the ultimate Dopamine Squirt-ville that too many players take way too seriously?
I wanna get the fanbase's opinion on this second job many people seem to have.

I mean I have 6500+ hours (steam + bnet) so I can't really speak to the second job aspect. Though I agree that there are a vocal handful who seem to think that every minor annoyance in the game is the end of the world.

Some people take it pretty seriously, yeah.

I just like being a Space Wizard and shooting bad guys in the face.

The story and gameplay were fun until Solar 3.0 released. I do want to resume the story, but everything feels off now when I try to play.

There are two types of "second job" players, the ones where it actually is their job, and then the ones that don't realize everything is 100% optional and you don't need to have everything.

I honestly just play it with people that I've known since D1 launch or have met along the way. Some of them take it seriously, and I will admit I do too from time to time. But that's usually on for very hard activities like gms or trials. Overall I just like to meme and make memories with the people I play with. Hope this was somewhat helpful, hope you or whomever reads this has a great day:praisesun:

The issue with destiny 2 at this place in the cycle is BUNGIE'S MANAGEMENT, Alot of vets play it because "we love the game" and get to play with "friends". Their "retention rate" is garbage and all you have to do is look at "your friends list" from season to season and its empty.

I called this season "the season of reused content and asset flips", when I saw what it was and it confirmed the trailer came out.It would be so bad if so bad if "they supported the game vs just use it god know what or agenda's". Let's be honest "the chase hasn't been there for awhile" and I say this honestly because the "loot" doesn't matter anymore. The achievements don't matter anymore and RIP "the seals matters", D2 is basically low-tier junk food at this point. Let's say say an expansion is 80-100 for deluxe ED and you'll get money out of it, its the abuse cycle between or lack luster chase over that year.

This will be my last season playing more than likely, you have "devs saying quiet part out loud what they think of the player base" then recycling of the "content vault" for a FILLER SEASON AGAIN. Garrett Bennett is senior developer and lead at bungie said on twitter "Curious: what does it matter you already paid for the season" then preceded the "bash players their lazy news and development cycle". If this isn't wake up call for veterans of the game to walk away, its very very obvious they should. They put more into "eververse" and their "agenda story telling" than they do "actually fixing the game". The put more effort into the "ending cut scene for season of plunder with the osiris/saint-14 romance crap" then whole season.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a second job.

I merely don't care for the FOMO aspect behind certain things, like mods for instance. When I initially got into D2, it wasn't a great feeling to have an idea for a build, check out if it's been made or if it has alterations online, only to find out the build incorporates mods that I couldn't actively farm due to being from previous seasons and then, locked behind ADA-1 on a daily rotation.

For me, there was this urge to check the companion app everyday or log-in out of habit to ensure I didn't miss any great mods. I don't care about cosmetic FOMO, but I hate the idea of game-play related items being locked behind it. I wouldn't say it's like a second job, but the game certainly manipulated my brain into thinking I had to log on, or miss out.

Outside of that, I just simply enjoy the game, log in for some Crucible every now and then, have a blast and take breaks as and when I want to.

Enjoying some laid-back down time with the game right now before Iron Banner drops because I 100% want to get my hands on the Iron Companion gear for my Hunter from D1. Wolfswood Cloak? Sign me up. Tbh all of the Iron Banana gear from D1 looked great.
