Cheapest way to play game

I own no DLCs, played until Shadowkeep on ps4, beat it in a day, and stopped playing. Got a PC and picked the game up a little over a week ago.
My friend and I are 100% f2p right now, but are interested in the paywall content. I've heard Witch Queen does not include previous expansions, but is going to be added to the legendary edition at some point.
Would the cheapest way to play be to wait until it's added, then for LE to go on sale?

You'll be waiting well into 2022 for witch queen to be added to the legedary edition IF it gets added.

Better than spending $130ish to play it now imo. Also Beyond Light was added in less than a month, so I'm sure WQ will be added too.

Important parts of my original post and the last comment I replied to are waiting for LE to go on sale afterwards and them saying right now

The way the game works there really is no "cheap way to play the game" other than waiting for sales. It is a liver service game so you'll need to buy the deluxe edition every year to get everything.

I'd say just get Beyond Light Deluxe during the next sale and then buy Forsaken and Shadowkeep if you want their exotic gear.

Mikey, go sign up for xbox PC game pass. They have a 3 month trial for $1. You get access to beyond light, shadowkeep and forsaken dlc (but no seasons) for free. Then go setup cross save on bungie so you can link your steam account and game pass acount to bungie. This way if you decide to cancel game pass after trial is up you can jump back on to steam and not lose any progress. All gear earned from any of the dlc's on gamepass can be kept regardless of owning the dlc. So lets say you grind for a couple months then decide to cancel game pass. You would still be able to jump over to destiny on steam with all your gear in tact without owning a single dlc. Best bang for a buck

They removed all DLC form gamepass on December 7th if I remember correctly.

Here's my take : getting the latest expansion is the most important thing as it's what you'll play the most during the year. Seasons come second, then old DLC.

If you play a lot and regularly, and plan to do every content drops in the year, then get witch queen deluxe, it's expensive but it covers for the whole year. You spend big once, and then you're done (like 70~ish bucks i think).

If you only play sometimes, get witch queen normal version, it'll give you access to the big game changing content (since seasons rarely bring anything earth shattering) and then you can pick and buy whatever season you might want to play.

For previous expansion, including beyond light (being current but soon to be replaced in the spotlight) wait 'till it's on sale, then get it at a key reseller. It's all irrelevent content that you'd only play for the story anyway.

TLDR : Don't pay for something you won't play, and if it's old, buy it for as cheap as you can.

just look at key sellers they have them mostly the cheapest even the witch queen+30th pack is $50 cheaper then steam

first of all, all locations are open to anyone including free to play, they can even go to europa and do patrols and lost sectors

you really can't complain about the story if you haven't bothered to do them and seasons are designed to be completed by the bluest of blueberries

you not being able to platform on a hunter with stompees is a you problem, are you using triple jump and holding the jump button down until you hit the peak to jump again

everyone is not getting stasis, i don't know where you heard that and why you're spreading misinformation

I got my legendary edition + witchqueen deluxe for 89€ and content that far is well worth it. Destiny will always be a cashsink and its never cheap compared to other games, no matter how long you wait because things get vaulted and new stuffs gets released.
If you powerplay or are a collector you want all the content anyways imo.

The "cheapest way" are keyshops period.
The second cheapest way is as you said ofc the sale but you won't have the deluxe witchqueen version and so not all seasons included. All in all you won't save much anyways if you plan to get everything because you would have to upgrade for another 30€ at least and would still miss beyond deluxe stuff.

No one can tell you the future and it may be added to legendary sooner or later but it will miss the pass for the rest of the seasons anyways.
